    First off - great CMS!

When i click through to a secondary point on the top menu (ie i click through to "new document") the top menu disappears alltogether. This happens in both FF and IE. However and this is the strange part if i load the manager into a secondary tab in FF everthing works perfectly?! This occurs on a standard installation.
Just a point if i log onto the demo site everthing works perfectly in both IE and FF.

    I’m running the following
    Windows XP pro
    PHP 5.1.2
    MYSQL 5.0.19
    Apache 2
    Modx 0.9.1 (standard installation)

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

I guess its nothing to do with MODx... lol .. and yep its really strange!

What is your FF version? You might try re-installing latest firefox stable build.

I’m running the latest stable release of FF 1.5.0.1. However i have the same problem with IE so it cant be a browser issue? The only way i can rectify it is open the manager in a second tab in FF and then everthing works perfectly.

Well, that’s the same version of FF as I’m running and i’ve not had any problems.

Are you getting any errors being flagged up anywhere (Javascript errors, debug errors, error log etc.)? May give a hint as to the problem.

          Thanks, Garry

Nope no errors. The point is that this happens with both FF and IE. However if i log onto the online demo ( cms resource) and use the manager there it works perfectly in both browsers. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled modx a couple of times with no luck.

Update: I’ve noticed that there is a comment above the head (<!-- Added by Susan -->) which normally sends things into quirks mode. It’s only inserted when i view the source of the secondary tabbed FF manager which strangely works perfectly. It’s missing in both the FF (primary tabbed) and IE browsers that don’t display the menu.

Not sure if this has any bearing on anything?

              Hi Toots!

Had a similar problem to yours with my MODx local install under WinXP, and found a solution after much googling. See my post here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2975.msg23105.html#msg23105
Hope it helps, let us know how you get on.

              Cheers

                Thanks i’ll check that out.
I’ve noticed the browsers that have the missing menu give a non SEF path h**p://yoursite/manager/index.php?a=70 Whilst the ones that display correctly show h**p://yoursite/manager/. Maybe it’s a php issue?

I’ve also discovered if i open a second window in IE it works perfectly?!.....Madness!

I’ve set up a test environment with the same spec as your setup and still works fine for me so I don’t think it’s a PHP issue.

The non-SEF URL is puzzling me a bit, it would suggest that the frame layout is being overidden whenever you click on an item. It would explain the menu disappearing but I’m not sure what would cause that to happen.

                  Curiouser and curiouser ...

My only guess is that it has to do with PHP5... a lot of things chaged in that version of PHP. I’m myself running a small local server on an XP machine with uniserver (a nice bundle that includes Apache, PHP, Perl, MySQL and a few more things) and I’ve downgraded my uniserver version to use PHP4 instead and everyting works fine
