I see where I was screwing up, it was totally my fault. I didn’t click on the little cube image, I just clicked on the SMF link in the top or on the not. It all works not also, currently testing to see how I like the entire system and integration. May move my entire website over.

Can someone clarify the SMF MOD

when resyinc users from smf and modx does that mean when they login to smf they are automatically logged into modx and vice versa ?

also when a new user signs up for an account at the smf is a modx account automatically created and vice versa >

and one more thing when modx is in maintanence mod can users with accounts still access the pages or does it restrict everyone who is not logged into manager

SMF Bookmark Mod - check it out

After installing the bridge you should allow users to login via the MODx WebLogin snippet.

Modx will now handle all logins and signups.

This depends on your configuration. If you have disabled the SMF login options then no one will be able to login if MODx is offline.

There are instructions available for the installation of SMF on http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=2.0;sort=subject.

With the SMF-module comes also a .doc with additional information about how to install the module. I ’ve attached this document to this message...
That was kind of you to post these links.
Does anyone know of any textual documentation for this? I have been developing programs
for 20 some years and have yet to require the need to read (or write) a "word" doc. They
can present a security risk and I can’t imagine why anyone feels the need to turn perectly
good (readable) text into a binary program, thereby rendering it unreadable. >:(
Anyway, as I am running UNIX and have no intention of replacing my OS w/ Windblows,
I’m hoping that there is some *textual* documentation available that enables a broader
range of users the opprotunity to use this bridge.

Thank you for all your time and consideration.

I agree with the word doc problem. A PDF or something would be nicer. However, in cases where a better format can’t be obtained, the OpenOffice.org application will, most of the time, open Word documents.

And to create a PDF from Windows MS Word you can download the free PDF Writer from www.cutepdf.com which installs as a printer. In case anyone was wondering.

Thank you very much for your response.
Unfortunately, the PDF printer utility is only available for windows. As far as
openoffice goes; I’m already aware of it. But am not sure I want to load 250Mb
onto one of my servers just so I can read this single document to allow me to know
how to install this bridge. I guess this bridge is only intended to be used by
windows users. Seems a bit prejudice. And MODx seemed so promising too sad

Thank you again for all your time and consideration.

I use the latest OpenOffice for all MS office documents that get sent to me, and have yet to have one not be readable or usable. And, OpenOffice can also turn them into PDF’s at the click of a button. And I can even create decent HTML markup from Word docs with OpenOffice (without all the MS proprietary styling crap); something Word just can’t seem to do itself. Highly recommended from me...

Just curious, but why would you load it on your production servers and not on your workstation?

Believe me. I’m with you. OpenOffice is *much* better than *any* M$ product - by far.
But when I tested it out, I found it left a larger footprint than I was, or am, willing to
expend for an application suite that I don’t have occasion to use all that often. I pretty
much live in my IDE (development).

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
