yep the idea was to have the modx/smf connect know which user is which based on domain that way users from one domain could login and be logged into that domain and users who login from the wrapped smf on another domain would logged into that domain. Will have to improvise for the time being
It’s by design that the system create a random password. I now have to find a way to allow them to be able to set the MODx password from SMF
Time for a version 1.1

So far I’ve only had one problem:
I register for a new account in modx and log in. Then I go to the forum (I’m signed it to that as well) and I go to the profile page. Under the Modify Profile section I choose the Account Related Settings option. To make any changes to these settings you need to enter your password. My password never works.
From my understanding, a random password is assigned to the smf account at some point in the sync process. I looked at the hashes in the smf database and this appears to be the case.
Is it by design that the smf account password remains a random one to restrict users from changing their email/password from within smf? I am only interested in allowing users to be able to change the "hide email/online status" options.
Thanks for any help you can provide
Anybody can confirm or invalidate this problem ? I don’t find any Answer to the Neomancer question.
OK OK, I got it.
Perhaps was it what you tried to tell me xwisdom but the French newbie I am didn’t understand.
Here is the solution :
Once uploaded, the original smf_api_1.1.php file is modifyed (I don’t know why ? Caracter encoding problems ?) and becomes useless.
To avoid this modification :
- Create on your workstation an empty file called smf_api_1.1.php.
- Open the original smf_api_1.1.php saved on your workstation. Copy all its code.
- Paste all the code in the empty file you created.
- Upload the new file into your server (replace the original one).
=> It should works then !

Probably a line ending problem, I’ve often had problems with individual files with Windows or Mac line endings; I open the file in my editor and convert to Unix line endings.

That’s possible. Thanks for the tip susan.
nza2k ,
I’m glad you got it working
PS. Now for me to find some time to release 1.1. Back the SMF brawing board.
I been testing the smf connector, its not allowing the logged in user to access forum even though they are setup for access and logged in on the modx end. This connector makes the login process wacked, unable to make use of it
The modx site appears to use only the forum login are they using the bridge ?
I think its a bad idea to restrict the login to modx, joomla’s smf bridge allowed users to login from either side via sessions as it is the login process gets messed up. I like the idea of not being able to sync users without approving from either side, if smf is set up to approve first modx automatically approves them, its like modx makes the decisions for smf which isn’t good. May have to go back to the old fashion way disable the mod and add users mannually to both sides.
