The rich text editor is not compatible with Safari; Safari does not support the javascript used.

There is no reason not to use Firefox on a Mac, it works quite well.

Thanks, but I have never had to tell a client to use a different brower to access or manage a site. I did see where there has been some work on getting the editor to work with Safari, looks promising. Any plans on plugging in TinyMCE?

For that, you’ll need to check on the Koops Mailinglist site. This is not a true port, just an embedding of his script.

I encountered a really strange bug, I event don’t know it this got something to do with this module.

I installed it, made the table, insersted the snippet call. Everything very straightforward. Then I called the website with the subscription form and entered a vaild email-adress. Everything fine. Then I clicked on submit and the browser keeps hanging loading....

Now every website works, even the Top Level Domain of my modx install, but everything related (or everything that uses) my ModX install keeps on hanging loading. There are no time-outs, it just keeps loading and loading and loading...

For testing purpose I renamed the module folder and deleted the maillinglist tables, but the problem is still there. The biggest problem is, that i CAN’T go into the backend anymore to make changes....

UPDATE: Clearing all cached files and coockies on my local browser seemes to solve that prob. Seems that my provider just is making maintainamce... Still testing..

UPDATE2: I got still the problem. The system begins to frees when I want to contribute with a (valid) eMailadress. When I delete the cookies, the thing is working again..

I had the same problem yesterday when I tried to use GoDaddy hosting. They are using sendmail but they do not support the Sockets Perl module. I have a feeling it related to this. I switch to SMTP and everything worked great.

Is it possible to subscribe a user without them having to confirm their account. I would like to then change the activate email to a standard welcome one. Most people don’t mind activating their subscription via email and I understand why this is built in, but for one particular project, I would like to automatically subscribe a user when they submit their email.

Hope the above can be done.

As far as I know, that’s an integral part of the original Koop’s MailingList. You’d have to go there to find out about it; or hack the code yourself. On line 56 of the snippet, instead of calling the "subscribe" function, make up a simple function to just enter the address and date into the "subscribers" table (validating the user’s input first, of course!) See the "subscribe" and the "activate" functions in the functions.php file.

I will take a look in the code, it shouldn’t be too difficult (famous last words), as you say, a case of calling a different function.

One other feature that would be great - add a checkbox to my sites contact form. Would this be too difficult? I am using eForm to display a simple form, would it be a case of adding a check box that basically took the information from the required email field in the form and adding it to newsletter subscription database.

In theory that sounds straightforward but I have no idea how to implement this... can it be implemented....has anyone already done this?

Hi Folks

I have installed and tried KoopsMailinglistX with the included config.php, which worked fine as I used the mailserver of
$mailserver = ’mail.phpusers.org’;. Exactly because such abuse my provider askes authentification to use the mailsever directly to send mails or we need to use localhost with sendmail.
My question:
1. Can I add the authentification (Username and Password) in the config.php
2. Is it possible to use sendmail?
