  Search in Russian works only in the blog. But search in Russian does not work in comments.

  Where are storing the comments ? If they are storing in specific tables outside of content documents, it’s normal that ajaxSearch doesn’t find any searchword in your comments.
  Words are searching only in TVs or in content documents. Extracts with the word found are displayed only for content documents. When a word is found in a TV, only the document title linked with the TV is displayed.

  I have looked, as storage of comments in snippet Jot is arranged. Snippet News Publisher is used meanwhile for a blog in the distrib MODx 9.6.1.
  Location of comments are: the database table: “xxx_JOT_CONTENT”, the “CONTENT” field.
  
  It turns out it is necessary to search for the root of a problem in snippet Jot.
  English words after all are searched in comments. MODx it is again sick of discrimination concerning the languages which are distinct from English.

  One detail. It was absolutely confused, began to forget sequence of my actions.
  
  In the present version of the my test site I use non-Ajax search (&ajaxSearch=`0`).
  And on page with results of search there is a call of snippet:
  [!AjaxSearch? &ajaxSearch=`0` &AS_showForm=`0` &AS_landing=`8`!]

  This issue comes from the presence of a "%" character near the word java in in this document:

  form: standard CSS: 100% freedom in the appearance of your templates
  function: Javascript & PHP pieces of functional code: "Snippets" and other resources

  To simply understand what happens go to here and try a first test with

  standard CSS: 100 freedom in the appearance of your templates

  as test1. And then do the same test with

  standard CSS: 100% freedom in the appearance of your templates

  As explained by OpenGeek, this javascript error occurs due to the use of the decodeUriComponent function in the js/ajaxSearch.js file line 162:

    $('current-search-results').setHTML(decodeURIComponent(request));

  But the value of request is correct and well formated.
  To be honest, I don’t understand (1.6 heritage) why it is necessary to decode the request value even though the URI isn’t encoded
  So, as a first quick correction, you can simply change :
  

    $('current-search-results').setHTML(decodeURIComponent(request));

  by

    $('current-search-results').setHTML(request);

  or change the text of your document
  e.g : "standard CSS: total freedom in the appearance of your templates" seems good too
  
  I have done some tests (with utf8 and latin1 documents) without the decodeURIComponent function, and it seems to be good. But I wish to run more tests before publishing this correction in a new version (1.7.0.2)

  I have looked more attentively. I was mistaken. And miracles are not present.
  The search terms of article in English casually coincided with a required context in comments to blog article. So, search in blog News Publisher does not work neither for Russian nor for English words.
  
  I have looked a source code ajaxSearch.php.inc. Updating should be carried out in it, first of all.

  Here is my offer on search strengthening, at idea level.
  
  This offer concerns languages with the advanced system of suffixes and the terminations of words. For example, Russian. It is required to process search terms (from search inquiry) before search process for this purpose.
  There are special algorithms. See for example http://snowball.tartarus.org/algorithms/russian/stemmer.html . The stem-algorithm is not required to be built in MODx. It is required to make stab-function for a call of preliminary processing which the user will specify independently.

  Idea #2:
  It’s necessary of custom postprocessing of search with correct highlighting of the terminations following a basis of the found word (term).
  How are about highlighting preprocessor in the found results is fulfilled today?

  It is under each plugin’s configuration tab (in this case; search Highlighting plugin)
