  Like search here...?, if it is, you need to rename or delete it from the language file.

  hi,
  I have installed the AjaxSearch 1.5 in my site, and it works very good when I do an english search but when I try to enter greek words to search it doesn’t find anything. A message is displayed saying:
  There were no search results. Please try using more general terms to get more results.
  
  I guess this happens because the manager doesn’t still support the greek language. I heard there is a translation in progress, how is that going?
  And one last thing, I tried a french search, I entered the word
  français in the search box (I had the same word in one of my articles) but it still sows the same message.
  Do I need to alter something in the code of the snippet?

  AjaxSearch Crawls within a db content so there should be something to be popped out of the search box, if you have some words that matches what you searched but doesn’t give a result, try to make the cache of that page cleared once and have it cached again.
  FYI; every native language support issues goes to the internationalization sub forum, have you contacted the person who is doing the translation?

  First of all thank you for your quick response! You people from MODx are amazing.
  This is what happens. In one of my articles I have the greek word πολλά (which means ’’many’’ BTW), when I try to search it using the greek alphabet it finds nothing. So I went in the documents HTML file and saw that this greek word in html is prodused like this:
  πολλά
  When I entered as a search term πολλά it found it exactly as i wanted!
  any suggestins why someone has to enter the html code for a greek word in order to get a search result?

  It is because the collation of the db and the character set of the site doesn’t support or match together to parse the search term in the Greek alphabet, try to transform/change the collation (to utf8_general or utf8_unicode) and the character set of the site being set to the utf-8 that has a support for a double-byte characters that Greek is among those languages that needs double-byte collation and the character set to parse the words exactly as they are. πολλά luck or thanks

  This seems all persian to me
  How am I supposed to do this? (I guess this is out of the topic of this forum, so in order not to fill this forum with unrelated things you could pm me, that is if you have the time to answer me in the first place)

  I think this might be useful to others that come across the same issue so i explain here;
  Basically the character set of a site and the collation has been taken from a user himself at the MODx installation time but if you need to change the db collation afterwards you have to access the db by something -say PhpMyAdmin and to define charset of the site, after changing the collation, you have to enter the manager>Tools>configuration>character encoding>Unicode UTF-8
  
  FYI: on How to change db collation:
  1. Every database has to make a connection based on some MySQL collation so in general we have a plenty of a choice but for double-byte character languages we mainly use three type of a collation that are: utf8_general_ci | utf8_unicode_ci or the one specialized for our native language, suppose there is utf8_persian_ci or alike to other languages if provided.
  
  2. Each and every database and even the table itself could have a completely different collation that Mysql use to make a connection, so you have to check them all to see whether there might be a mismatch or nah!
  
  To change a database collation choose a database name from a drop down menu on the left frame of the phpMyadmin page and check the collation of the individual tables (in structure tab) first and if there was a mismatch, try to make them correct (operations>collation>change to whatever best fits).
  
  If you have any further questions regarding collation / database adjustments or character set settings for native language issues, consider making a topic on the internationalization sub forum and i’ll be glad to help you out there among the other brothers.

  Everything was already set like you said both in the phpmyAdmin and in configurations in MODx.
  I guess the problem is caused by something else.

  If you switch the entity encoding of TinyMCE in your installation from named to raw (could be set in the plugin configuration) and edit and save all your documents this problem should be solved.

  That’s it! Thank you so much! I would have never figured that out by myself. I will write this in the internationalization forum for others that may have the same problem.
