    @TobyL

    Thank you for all your information. It is *very* kind of you to spend so much time answering my newbie questions.

    Hopefully lots of people will benefit from the information you have given here. Sure you can find some of the information in the snippet and in this thread, but there is so much information and it’s very hard to know what is the "latest" instructions.

    I think that your posts would be enough for anyone to get started with this excellent snippet!

    Again, thank you! (I would give you a kiss if I thought you wanted one wink )

    @Moderators

    Maybe you in the beginning of this thread should somehow link to the information here given by TobeL. If reading from the example made by TobeL most people should not have to read the first 13 pages of this thread, as it gives a lot of "old" instructions and also are a bit confusing for anyone just wanting to get started with eForm.

    At least it would be good for all the newbies like me smiley

    EDIT: Ok, just realized that there are links to "Few Important posts about eForm" in the first post, but maby you could add one more link to the latests post by TobyL, as they sum up what is needed to get started.

    @All

    Can anyone think of a reason to use anything else but MODx? The people in this forum are so helpfull, even to a bad English spoken newbie like me! MODx is going to become one of the most used CMS/F, I’m sure of it! smiley

      How can I set the maximum file size for an attachment?
      As you can read above there’s no way of doing that in eFrom that I know of. You’ll have to dive into the php ini settings for that (upload_max_filesize I believe).
      There are up to 3 ways I know of to limit the uploadsize. There is the mentioned .ini settingt. You can add a special hidden form field with the name "MAX_FILE_SIZE" to the form and as value the maximum filesize. And last you can check the filesize after the file has been uploaded. Take a look at the code of the fileupload snippet to see how these 3 methods can be used.

        Installed eform snippet and parser on my Modx 0.9.2.1 and I get the following error on execution:
        I got that error all the time before, for me the solution was to empty cache in both MODx and my browser *after* fixing what was wrong in my syntax. Not much of a help, some one else can surely give you a better answer if you post your code.

          Don’t know about [adding] server validation though. In the current version eForm has some very basic validation but beside hacking the snippet there is not really any way of adding more server validation. Hopefully this will be added in a next version.
          I actually meant "using server validation" - ie adding validation to the form by using the &format= or eform tags, as I felt that it would aid comprehension if these were not included in the first example. However, your comments now explain everything very well. Thanks.

          Now done. Thanks again to TobyL!
            No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

              Did you upload the include files to your snippet folder?

                files? more then one inc file?

                after installation i have eform.inc.php in /modxroot/assets/snippets/eForm

                and eform.snippet in /modxroot/assets/snippets

                is this ok, or is there something wrong?

                    Thanks to TobyL I have an idea whats wrong!

                    * You must create a report chunk and also pass some data to it. Example: <input type="text" size="16" name="name" eform="Name::1" />
                    * You must call that chunk in your snippet call (add &report=`NameOfReportChunk`). In report chunk add placeholders like [+name+] and whatever text you want in the mail the form creates.
                    * You should have 2 inc files in in the /assets/snippets/eform folder: "eform.inc.php" and "eFormParser.inc.php".

                    For more information and alternative way to do it, see the excellent explanation made by TobyL on previous page in this thread.
