Support/Comments for TinyMCE

Hello Jeff,

thank you for your encouragement. Indeed I am using an WYSIWIG editor for the first time and have to get used not to have full control over my sacred HTML source

Maybe in the future there could be a shortcut similar to CMD-ALT-SHIFT-V on OS X, where all the formating is stripped of the text to be pasted.

But maybe I take away TincMCE from my clients again, tell them only real hardcore web developers are qualified to paste content to websites and charge them for doing it myself

says there is an option (IE only) to automatically clean up on Paste.



This could be added to tinymce.functions.php

Have a little problem and dont really know how to fix it.

Ich have a code in my template that looks like this:

<p class="name1 name2">text</p>

now i replace every content from the template, since I want my client to write his own
now in RTE I first select a Paragraph for the text, now it looks like this:

<p>text</p>

everythings fine, but when i try to take 2 css-styles (name1 AND name2) it dont works.
Even if I take only one,it dont works exactly like i want:

<p><span class="name1">text</span></p>

Now I have enough knowledge of xhtml/css to edit that, but what if a client dont know nothing about this stuff?
Is there a way to solve the problem without having to edit in html?

From the TinyMCE documentation:

" By default style information are attached to the parent element of a selection if all children/the whole element contents is selected."

Perhaps you didn’t select the whole p tag, which is easily done.. You can use the tag hierarchy in the tinymce statusbas to make sure you select the complete p tag. A nuisance I know.. although I’m not 100% sure I don’t think there’s a good solution around this.

Otherwise have a look at the tinymce wiki at moxiecode for configuration options.

I don’t think multiple classes are possible with tinymce.

paste_auto_cleanup_on_paste : true

This could be added to tinymce.functions.php

Hmm...what I’ll probably do is find a way to allow ya’ll to add in parameters and values and have the plugin parse them and add them in for you. That way we can cut down on the number of options and only include the ones that mostly everyone will use.

I’ve seen this question asked a couple of times, but as yet to find an answer to it.

I want to allow content editors the ability to add images which utilize lightbox functionality. Flow would go as follows:

• Client edits document and select add image
• Chooses/uploads image from local machine to assets/images and adds image to page
• Selects image and clicks create link
• Browses to assets/images from resource type drop down and again chooses/uploads bigger version of image
• Set rel="lightbox" for link

I know the advlink plugin allows the user to select the correct rel="lightbox" but my issue is the resource type path when the link source is selected. It defaults to assets/files and there’s no way to move to another directory.

Ideally I’d like the ability to choose between files or images from the resource type drop down.

Is there a way to do this?

That’s more of a limitation in the resource browser than anything else. I’ve always hated the fact that we’re limited to just four folders and are forced to use certain ones for different media types. I’ll need to explore this a bit and see if I can lift this limitation and make it easier to pick your own folders. In the future (hopefully the near future!) we’re gonna get rid of the MCPUK resource browser altogether and replace it with something more robust.

In the end one of our developers found a solution:

Find the file: tiny_mce/plugins/advlink/link.htm
Edit line 15 and change to

This will allow you to select Files, Images, Flash or Media from the Resource Type drop down for links.
