I don’t know if it’s what you’re talking about but did you check Administration > System Configuration > User settings
You can edit the Signup e-mail, Web Signup e-mail and Web Reminder Email. You can also edit the CAPTCHA Words.

If it’s not what you’re looking for, maybe it’s one of those "harcoded" strings that hang around. If so, log this in the bugtracker...

Did you install it clean with sample site being included?

I’m not sure whether the form is being saved in a chunk or using the default snippet form.
Can you edit that page and copy the snippet calling for request new account page, and paste it to this forum? I might be able to help you after looking at the snippet calling.

        Regards,
          Wendy Novianto

By default, the WebSignup snippet uses content that is contained directly in the snippet. You can override this behavior by providing a &tpl=`yourWebSignupChunkNameHere` parameter to the snippet call, as in...

You need to pick through the files in the assets/templates/weblogin folder to find all the output text that needs translating, such as error messages and acknowlegement messages. I worked up a multilaguage-ready version of some of the files to use an external lang.php file. You could either directly hard-code your translated text into the files you are using, or continue converting them to variables and add to the lang.php file.

Edipo, I translated those snippets in Italian; but I also personalized them, removing some fields I was not interested in. If you want, I can send them to you.

But I think Susan’s solution is much better. In fact I’m having troubles when upgrading to newer versions of MODx, because my modified snippets get overwritten. If I save and restore my translated snippets, I lose the improvements carried by the updated versions.

I’m hoping someday that it will be the standard to write snippets using variables for output text and external lang sources (whatever gets decided on, database or files).

That’s something I am also hoping for... it has been discussed now and then, and it certainly will happen. I guess the sooner the better, it’s easier to convert a few snippets than a few hundreds in the future...

Upload those files to replace the ones in assets/snippets/weblogin, and replace the snippets. Make your translation in the lang.php file.
