Good to know. I thought I recalled reading (from previous versions of YAMS), that the sub-directories were needed.
That said, I now have only two resources: index.html and 404.html (for my error page)
Both are mapped to "Main Template" which has been defined as multilingual. Both English and French are the only active languages (per YAMS config page).
When editing the resource, I see ManagerManager correctly hiding the traditional document variables (introtext, description, etc. as directed in the YAMS config), however the TVs are all listed on top of one another and not in their respective language’s tabs (description_en, description_fr), etc.
Note:
404 seems to be working correctly now.
Valid URLs are not 404, but also not 200:
/en/ => /en/index.html with the following error:

Odd that /fr/ is becoming /en/ ? I am using: RewriteRule ^fr/(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
