Susan, Have you tried Pixelmator? It is not free ($59), but it already does so many things that I rely on photoshop for, in a more "Mac" way than photoshop. It uses "Core Image" technology to offload filtering an image manipulation to Mac OS X’s Core Image library which uses the GPU instead of CPU cycles. Their support is freaking awesome, and of course you can try before you buy. I recommend giving it a once over to see what you think.

I don’t have a Mac, and I gotta say that the design for that app you mentioned Scotty is kickass.

I wonder if anyone’s did a msstyle theme like that...

Scotty, doing a gradient for a masthead background is about the limit of my graphics abilities. Anything like that is about as wasted on me as a Ferrari would be (I don’t drive; I’ve never even ridden a bicycle).

Hmmm... slightly off topic but funny none the less!

I do all my gfx work in Photoshop and I personally stand by it. I use macs with PS for my graphic design part of my course and I have to say... I hate macs. It’s a personal thing as I have used PCs all the time but using the same program on the 2 platforms, in my opinion, PCs are better.

That bike looks excellent Scotty... did you get that with the pen you are selling on your TC website? LOL!

I’ve had PCs (Intel, AMD and Cyrix) for 15 years, built and repaired them, I’ve done dos since 3.3, Windows from 3.1 and Linux from slack 1.0, even OS/2! I got a Mac a few years ago, and just a few months ago gave away the last of my AMD machines left over from my PC business. If I ever do get AMD or Intel PC hardware again, it will certainly be running Linux or BSD, but I don’t see it happening any time soon.

By the way, Scotty, while Pixelmator is (arguably) prettier, I still like Seashore better. Does exactly what I need.

I go back even further Susan. Dos, 2.2 Windows 2.whoknows, IBM beta tester for OS/2 1.5 - Merlin, and had two pre dos systems.

I currently run four OS’s in my office two windows based (gotta play games and make flash movies for the web somehow), Centos 5.1, Ubuntu Studio 7.1 (on two).

I also use Macs occasionally.

Looking at build a couple quad core toys in the next few weeks.
