I seem to be having the disappearing overlay box issue as well. If I delete cache/mgr/smarty folder it works on initial load but then subsequent loads causes the same issue and it only seems to be resolved by again clearing out the cache. I tried the version from the package manager as well as from github. I think the connector.php file has the correct permissions.

I am on a brand new MODx 2.1-pl install; PHP 5.3.5 MySQL 5.5.9 and having the issues in Chrome, Safari 5, and FireFox 4. Any thoughts?

Hi All,

I’ve been having the exact same "Add Item" overlay disappearing problem everyone else has been getting, and nailed it down to clearing the core/cache folder like the previous poster, but can’t seem to find a fix. Any idea huh

Awesome add-on wish it would work.

I also get "... core/components/migx/processors/mgr/fields.php : 40) PHP warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()" errors in my modx error log.

Revo 2.1 rc4 / PHP 5.3.2 / MySQL 5.1.44

what do you have in your formtabs and columns-field? is it working with emtpy formtabs and columns-field?
Is it online. perhaps I can have a look into your manager?

I have tried multiple things, fromt he default to empty and it seems to have the same issue. It is in local development but I can get you manager access in just a few minutes if that will help.

I also tried a version of 2.1 RC3 that had the same issue so I am wondering if it is something with my config & setup but just can’t figure out what.

oddly Bruno17 was unable to replicate the issue in the same browsers.

If I add #modx-window-mi-grid-update {display: block !important;} to the manager/templates/css/modx-min.css file it seems to fix the issue on my end ... now I just need to figure out why it works on initial load after cache clear but not subsequent loads without modifying the CSS.

I am wondering if this could be a timing issue? If I throttle my connection using http://www.charlesproxy.com/ it seems to also fix the issue. Maybe when it is cached something is loading too fast?

edit:

I don’t know if any of this is useful, but when it fails it seems it tries to load connector.php twice but when I artificially throttle the connection it only loads it once and the popup window works as expected.

This worked for me too and I’m happy to live with the hack. My environment in case it helps: I’m in 2.1.0-pl with MIGX 1.0.0-pl1, on Ubuntu 10.10 with PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.5 and MySQL 5.1.48-1ubuntu8.1. It was a clean install with migx the only extra added. The only template variable was a migx which had the tabs and columns from the example file in the distribution. The overlay loads the first time, but on page reload it never appears again. I was encountering the problem on Firefox 4 and Chromium on Ubuntu and on Chrome on my MacBook Pro.

For me, the problem doesn’t fix itself after cache clear and there are no errors displayed anywhere I can see (the server log, modx, browser js console). I did notice that the connector script did appear twice in my Firebug net panel (and the Chromium equivalent) but didn’t look into it as I didn’t realise it might be a problem.

One odd thing is that the problem is only recent. Here’s the narrative as I see it: I had up until Thursday morning a site on my dev environment with many migx blocks and lots of content and there was not a problem at all. My hard drive happened to fail at that point and I spent the weekend up until yesterday rebuilding my dev environment on a new hard drive. I restored the site from backups and the problem started to appear - I spent about 6 hours yesterday chasing down various dead end avenues mainly to do with permissions and server modules etc - none of which helped. Here’s the thing, though - my ’dead’ drive came back to life after having not been touched since it failed and I was able to boot with it. When I loaded up the site in the browser the overlay disappearing problem re-appeared. There was a considerable amount of content already in the the migx blocks, so it’s clear that they were working previously - but now they were clearly not. This leads me to wonder whether the problem is due to some automatic update that’s happened in the meantime. Anyway, I’ve run out of time to tinker, and the css hack seems to work for me so I’m happy.

I wonder if this detail might help someone? Anyway, thanks for the plugin and the fix.
