Great ncrossland. Thanks for posting it up.
I renamed your "top" param to "limit", as it didn’t make sense if you sorted randomly or numerically ascending (since the "top" 5 are actually the bottom 5 in terms of count). Nice improvements though!

I noticed. You should have seen my face when I copied over the code. I made the top to limit adjustment but had forgotten that I’d removed the ’class’ from the list output. My chin hit the floor til I looked things over.

Its a great little snippet. smiley

Hey guys, need some assistance with this great snippet smiley

I can’t get to display the related tags as links of my articles beneath. The tagcloud and the landingpage with the overview is working great.
My only problem is to display the tags as links which get you to the landing site with the related articles (like on the modX mainpage)...

TagCloud call:
[!TvTagCloud? &parent=`20` &landing=`41` &tvTags=`docTags` &showCount=`1` !]

Ditto call:
[!Ditto? &tpl=`de_show_news` &parents=`20` &tagData=`docTags` &extenders=`summary,tagging` &tagDelimiter=`, ` !]

And finally the chunk:
<div class="post">
<h3 class="title">[+title+]</h3>
<div class="entry">
<p>[+summary+]</p>
</div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Tags : [+docTags+] <div class="meta"><p class="more">Geschrieben am: [+date+]</p></div>
</div>

Any clue how to add the link to every tag?

Yeah. Check out tagLinks snippet. That will give you what you are looking for.

Thank you but why isn’t that written on the TagCloud snippet page? This kind of finding information is always confusing me grin

Well it’s not difficult to incorporate the two and as individual snippets go they do what they say on the can.

TvTagCloud consolidates all tags in a TV for full display of tags whereas tagLinks takes the tags from a TV from within a Document. A Slight but significant and subtle difference IMHO.

Thats right if you’re familiar with the system wink For novice its difficult to see the relations and need of other snippets. Anyways, thanks for the support.

Hi

I hope someone can help me here - I have really tried to sort this issue myself but have failed so far to come with anything... Despite the contradictions between the "snippet" and "Ditto" code suggested on the TvTagCloud download page and the examples embedded within the actual download file, I have got this partially working. Here’s what I did:

I am using the latest modx and TvTagCloud 2.1.3.

a) I created a new tv with the name ’docTags’.

b) My TagCloud code is a chunk as follows:

<div class="sideitem">
<h4>Subjects covered</h4>
[!TvTagCloud? &parent=`70` &sort=`asc` &landing=`518` &tagDelim=`,` &tooltip=`[+count+]` &tvTags=`docTags` &showCount=`1`!]
</div>

c) The code on my landing page (ID 518) reads:

[!Ditto? &parents=`70` &tagData=`docTags` &tagDelimiter=`,`!]

I have populated a handful of pages (page ID 70 is ultimate parent of all) with some single-word and two-word tags. The cloud displays correctly - all tags are listed and totalled correctly.

The issue I have is that when I click on one tag, say, the landing page correctly lists the pages with that given tag. However when I click on another tag, the landing page states ’No documents found.’ even though I *know* that there are pages with that tag. It doesn’t matter whether the tag is single- or two-word and there is NO difference in the configuration (publish, cache, etc) of the tagged content pages.

Does anyone have any idea why the landing page would NOT consistently list the pages even though TvTagCloud correctly creates the cloud? What should I be looking for here? Is it possible that some pages being several layers down, i.e. ’grandchildren’ or lower below page ID 70 could have anything to do with it?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Leapy

I think I understand what you mean and I think I have mine working as you are looking for it to work.

I have a tagCloud page as well as tags in documents that are themselves links. My TVTagCloud snippet:

[!TvTagCloud? &parent=`132` &anding=`132` &sort=`asc` &showCount=`0` &displayType=`cloud` &tooltip=`[+count+] entries in [+tag+] Category`!]

The parent and the landing page are the same as this is where my ditto call sits:

<div align="center"><em>Total Movies in Database/Section: <strong>[+total+]</strong></em><br/>
Pages: <br/></div>
<br/>
<div id="nl_pages" align="center">[+splitPages+]</div>
<h5>Filter: [+tags+]</h5>
<hr/>
[!Ditto? &startID=`[*id*]` &display=`20` &commentsChunk=`MovieComments` &tpl=`DBDittoSummary` &paginate=`1` &alwaysshow=`1` &sortBy=`pagetitle` &sortDir=`asc` &tagData=`MovieCategory,MovieCreator,MovieGameEngine,MovieProductionDate` &tagDelimiter=`,`!][!SplitPagination?!]
<div id="nl_pages" align="center">[+splitPages+]</div>
<br />

You can see it working at http://il2mdb.montydan.com/

Hope its helpful.
