It would be for MODx Evolution. Revolution does it all with the Login package.

Actually, that is under my Login container, so I assume that’s the Login package. I’m still searching for information on how to use that in a template or web page, but haven’t found anything useful yet.

I see that there is a WLPE package for Revolution. I’m not familiar with it, but I believe the snippets in the Login package will do everything it does in a more convenient and more correct way (using user profile extended fields).

Login is fine, but how do I use it? I found a chunk called WebLoginSidebar, which appears to be part of Login. It gives me the login form, but I really don’t want to display this in the pages. My ultimate goal is to have the user log in to the "front end" for Frontpage. I could give them an icon to click, then log in. But would I then have to display a separate page with [[$WebLoginSidebar]] as its only content? And if I did that wouldn’t Login loose the ID of the page that is to be edited?

As I said, that’s not part of the Login package. All the Login chunks start with lgn. I would recommend uninstalling WLPE and installing Login. If Login doesn’t do what you want, you can always reinstall WLPE.

I don’t know what WLPE is. I don’t have any "Packages" for login type add-ons. The Login category, WebLoginSidebar chunk and MemberCheck, Personalize, WebChangePwd, WebLogin, and WebSignup snippets may have been part of the Revo install. I don’t recall doing anything that would have put them there. At any rate, since they are not a "Package" I can’t uninstall them. I could delete them, but why?

You could also ignore them.

They are not part of the Revolution install. It’s kind of a mystery how they got there unless you’re actually using MODx Evolution or imported tables from an Evolution install or installed WLPE and forgot you did it.

Possibly when I used Provisioner to bring everything over from Evo. Since they’re not part of Revo I would rather get rid of them. I don’t like a bunch of useless junk around. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t all part of the Revolution security, but then I guess that’s all part of the core - right?

Right, no add-on components are necessary to the core.

You should be aware that you may also have brought over many other Evo snippets, which won’t run in Evolution, some of which may get in the way of the Revolution versions or interfere with their installation - e.g. Ditto, eform, Wayfinder, Newspublisher, Personalize, etc.

The Revolution install contains no elements (IOW, after the install the Element tree will be completely empty). In general, the only elements that will run in Revolution are the things you installed through Package Manager and listed in the Package Manager grid (unless you created them yourself). Unless you installed the Sample Site, in which case you’d get some elements with it.

OK then. Login installed, so now I know how to log in to the "front end." Back to the original task - logging in to web resource in order to use Frontpage. What I see is pretty ugly, so obviously missing something. In IE my web page gets scattered all over the place. Frontpage gives me an Edit option but doesn’t seem to do anything. In Safari after logging in using Login my web page is split into two screens. There don’t seem to be any Frontpage controls, so really can’t do anything.

I assume I should be limiting Frontpage to certain tasks, since it apparently is not a QuickEdit type interface. I wouldn’t mind doing some simple blogging with Frontpage. Do I need to get rid of all the CSS structuring of my web page to do so?

No, Frontpage uses its own pages and templates to make sure there are no clashes with any other content. Read the user guide installation section and check you have all the resources/templates etc. listed in your install, reading your post it looks to me as though your site is a bit broken for whatever reason.
