Support/Comments for SPForm 3.1.3-Beta1

Thanks, Bob. I didn’t modify the code. I was trying to troubleshoot by adding the trailing "/index.php" in the referring sites/domains property in my property set I’m using.

I haven’t had a chance to try SMTP yet but I did just notice that with Firefox there’s an unstyled "0" (zero) in the browser window when the form submission fails and sends me to the blank default ID #1 page. Could this be indicative of anything server related? The form seems to keep fixing and then breaking itself still. Just thought I’d check in on the zero thing I noticed.

Is there any pattern to when it works or not? A couple of possibilities are:

Accessing the form with a www. versus non-www URL.
Accessing the form directly versus from a link on the site.

BobRay just a question about SPForm, I am having a heck of a time with formit, all my live sites are still on 1.4.1 so I won’t change them, but I am going to ditch formit for a site a was supposed to deploy today, can SPForm handle multiple drop down selects? I had several very complex forms setup with formit and wanted to move it to spform, I checked RTFM to see before I installed, (though I’ve noticed many of my answers are already answered in the components folder of the install), there wasn’t anything at the RTFM site, matter of fact, when I typed SPForm into the search box at RTFM the only response kicked back on the search was: "Did you mean SPERM?" hahahaha, I couldn’t believe it...this is my first drupal like experience with modx, which says a lot.

Anyway the forms I have is a basic contact: name, email, subject, text, but the other has those and about ten selects. I just need a contact solution and fast.

Yes, drop-down selects are no problem. Just put something like this in the &recipientArray property:



The readme.txt file in core/components/spform/docs/ has fairly complete explanations. You can also look at the property descriptions on the Properties tab of the snippet by clicking on the little plus sign next to them.

There’s a tutorial at the site in my sig., but it was written for the Evolution version and would probably do you more harm than good. I’ve been meaning to do a Revo tutorial, but haven’t found the time.

One caveat: The install needs to be updated for the current version of MODx. I think everything critical is installed, so you should be OK. It should create a contact page and a "Thank You" page for you, but it might not. It should work out-of-the-box once you set the &recipientArray. Let me know here if you run into any trouble.

You can put your own text on the page above the form, but don’t even think about customizing the form (except with CSS). It’s not really designed for that.

If you need SMTP, I’d advise using the MODx system settings rather than the SPForm SMTP properties.

actually I have ten select elements in the form, each one pertaining to a question the site owner needs to be answered can that be handled? sorry I should have been more clear, I was just typing a thousand miles a second last night.
Another question with the install of SPForm, are there any special steps I should do? for example if there is an update should I uninstall it first or can I simply click the YES in the package manager?

Clicking yes should be fine, although if a current form page is called "contact" you may get an extra one.

Hey BobRay, it works great, had to modify my forms a bit, but all test emails went through just fine. Thanks for putting the SPForm for revo up, it saved my skin big time!

Glad to hear it.

Someday, I hope to rewrite it so that it’s easier to modify the form.
