good question ... what about russian/cyrillic?

maybe the display of folder names could be done with another placeholder as the one used to create the link to the gallery?

It’s easy since E2G use database field as its placeholder, we can just add new field that store the full path.
BUT,
show.easy2gallery.php is also used to make a watermark stamp on the picture.
perhaps we can see another way to stamp the images.

Does anyone care to share the good UTF-8 encoding class? laugh

EDIT:
I wonder why MODx does not provide a complete function to do UTF-8 convertion.
It should be very helpful for any foreign developer if there are $modx->encodeUTF8() and $modx->decodeUTF8(), or a such.

Hi there,

I tried to install version easy2gallery136-Beta3-r4 yesterday.
1st I tried to do an upgrade but it did not work. Later I tried to install it from the scratch but it didn’t work either
and I only got a white page in the easy2 module page.

Is there any documentation about how to get it to work?

for some reason, the install folder wasn’t deleted.
just delete it manually, then the module should work.
i’ll look on this matter.

did you use SVN?
perhaps .svn folders stayed?

Hello Goldsky,

today, I had the time to try it again. After renaming the install-folder, it worked!

(I do not use SVN, if you mean something like Apache Subversion.)

I have a question here: Version 1.35 was already installed and I only dropped the 1.36er files into the appropriate folders. Is that the right way? Or do I have to unpack the files of the 1.35, drop the 1.36 r4 inside and install the module?

I’m looking forward to your answer. Thanks!

Additional info after some testing:
- Thumbnail size does not correspond to the values in the configuration. same in 1.35 (I guess, you mentioned that already.)
- I get an error by using a watermark image (Shows up that ’Imagecreate error’)

This probably might have been occured, since the installation procedure was not properly done by me.

Skip the 1.3.6 Beta4r4. Use 1.4.0 Beta 1, instead.

[note about version number, temus and I have agreed that 1.3.6 is not the minor improvement of 1.3.5.

Honestly, I forgot to add SQL fields checking of upgrading process from older version to E2G 1.3.6 Beta4.
(YES! There were some additional fields inside database!).
It has been fixed in 1.4.0 version, further more 1.4.0 has more features it suppose to have, Comments Manager.
Ignoring IP Address, anyone? grin

This version will be dropped into the MODx extra repository soon as the stable one.

DONT delete the older folder. Just rename it.
Drop the new version as ’easy2’ folder, as it will be the global path of the snippet to run.

OVERWRITE the new config file with the old one, since the old config has some important infos about your picture dimensions and your custom template paths.
COPY your custom templates from the older folder to the new one.
After you’ve done upgrading, ALWAYS START USING MODULE by saving the new config fist!
There are some new fields that have been added into the newest version.
(remember, you’re still using the old one, so you need to specify some new parameters)
Clear cache
After you’re sure every custom things you made have run well, you may delete the older version folder.

I’ve fixed the thumbnail code in 1.4.0.

Hello Goldsky,

thanks for your information and the new version. As I can see you made big progress there.

I removed the old module and started over again with version 1.4.0 Beta 1.
The installation was well described and easy to handle.

I used the interface to upload a few images into the first folder and created a child folder and added some pictures there too.
Somehow it will not create the thumbs. I checked that using Firebug and saw the thumbs in the ’./assets/gallery/_thumbnails’ folder were missing and the folder was empty. But I was able to load the original picture by clicking on the links (which actually should contain the missed thumbs) on the gallery page.
Furthermore I recognized that this new version does not rename the files names anymore. It keeps the original names. But I think that should be correct.

It would be fine, if you could give me some hints regarding the thumbnails. Thanks in advance!
