Support/Comments for FoxyBack-MODx (modular ecommerce backend)

@fatnuckle: thanks for documenting your progress with foxyback. i had everything up and running on my store, with order manager/customer login etc. however i was constantly receiving errors from the XML datafeed and the guys at foxycart eventually turned it off and sent me the following message:

FoxyBack isn’t supported by FoxyCart, but as far as we know there are at least a handful of stores that are using it successfully. If you’re having problems with it, the MODx forums are probably the best place to look. You may also want to check out the 2 datafeed test scripts to make sure things are working as expected:

so its listed on the intergration page but it doesn’t *really* work.

hopefully there is enough support for foxyback because modx + foxycart rules!

It does. In theory he he. I havent given up on it yet. Sorry I havent doc’d much yet. My problem is that I am trying to do three things, sell products, sell subscriptions, and sell downloads. I have a workable http://beta.ruralwateralliance.com/storealthough its pretty kluged together. I havent had the time (or real need) to get to the inventory manager backend control stuff as of yet, but once I have this thing launched I think I will experiment a bit more to see if I cant streamline it.

One of the big problems I am having is with the account management side of things. I basically ended up using webLogin PE snippet for the account management side of things and its currently only one way. Postbacks and stuff are a lttle out of my league.

I currently have a working subscription model, although not ideal it at least allows people to subscribe, but someone has to manually set the new users permission to grant access. The is a place within FB that I can set a default permission but it sets all transactional details (product, subscription or download). I’m going to try and hack something to prevent this to separate out the transaction data so Ill report back if I make it work.

The new subscription XML in the new 5.0 foxyCart version looks promising but I havent had time to sit down and really figure it out. I’m sure at some point I’ll try and hack my way into the webSubscription snippet (which I believe is integrated) and see if I cant re-integrate the two together somehow (I know that was the developers original intention).

The downloads are kind of wonky, as each has to be set in both modX and Foxy, but again theres probably some way to tie them together () but I unfortunately dont have the time to give it a lot of kicking around, but I plan to. I know that the one XML feed coming from foxy so everything will need to be tied into one honking snippet or module to accomplish multiple tasks on the one feed. This is where foxyB was going but obviously came to halt at some point (boo hoo)

The product thing is pretty straightforward, and thats where the inventory manager would come into into play, but I managed it via core templates & snippets that generate the appropriate code. f you are using FoxyCart and ModX for management then its actually a pretty sweet combo.

a question, before I install and use Foxychart.

I am currently setting up an artists portal, showing works of art with the use of maxigallery.

Now what I would like to is to have a simple cart icon underneath every big picture. So users can click that and adding that work in their shopping cart.
This after a log in. Will this be possible with Foxychart? Seen the tutorila vid, but I dont want dropdowns etc on these gallery pages.

is FoxyBack 2 still in development, or has that been suspended? It seems like discussion of it has ceased, but I’m hoping that is simply because coding is the concentration now.

Well have to give this a go. I completed the project a while back, got it working well enough (the original project was for a subscription site) There was some custom coding I have to work out) but on the whole I kluged an acceptable solution together.

Ive been keeping tabs over at the FC forum, hoping for some progress and it looks like chukk (who is the man) has stepped up.

We got FoxyBack working after a fashion - payments got through and new subscribers were added to our web user list. At the time, PayPal payments were not working on FoxyCart. I believe this may no longer be the case?

However we decided to build our site using a free-to-air model and so haven’t yet used the system in anger with real paying customers. I am happy to donate our working code if it helps others. I just need somewhere to place it.

Any ideas?

I have finally managed to get FoxyBack to work. I am now having issues with finding a way to only add subscribers to the web user group and not everyone who purchases a product. My client will be selling products and subscriptions to the site, but only the user who purchases a subscription should be added to the web user group. Any ideas?
