It’s sometime since I looked at the code but, as far as I recall, you can add hidden fields to the form submission that FC then include in their return XML. You can use therefore a "product category" (product|subscription) XML field to determine the modx web user group to which to add the customer.
Something like that.
If you need me to look further into it then I will have a go....
