    Well I’m back,

    with a good news: it’s work fine, my problem was a missmatch with the ditto install.

    with a bad news: IE Win produce a horribilous error! "Abborted"

    here the url, (the other browser work fine)

        yep I get the same problem with your site with IE7. It seems to partially load and the abort. I do not have the same problem on a simple modx test page that I have with the google mapmarker snippet. Do you have something in your serverside code that detects the browser version and sends different content depending on version?

          Hi there,

          this sounds like a known issue to me between IE and Gmaps. Do a Google search using ’Google Maps cannot open the internet site ... Operation aborted’.

          I use Gmaps on my site and I recall using a workaround for IE...

            In my installation (MODx 0.9.5 RC2, Ditto 1.02) I can’t make GoogleMaps work with &startID=.... as in your description. I only get a Parse error then.

            I have to use &startId=... Then it works. And it works GREAT!

                If you try the Google search mentioned, you’ll find lots of suggestions. One of them should work for you.

                  Hi there,

                  First of all, thanks for the great snippet: just what I was looking for!

                  After some fiddling with the snippet parameters (I read this support section, over and over again) I had it working - see live site at http://www.tese.org.pt, BUT (there’s always a but, isn’t it?):


                  • in IE6/Win it loads horribly slow...
                  • ...and when it finally does load, it looks OK, but...the map appears twice (well at least the controls)! looking at the source the Gmaps code appears twice, so it has to be something specific to the snippet that IE doesn’t like...

                  Using FF2.0/Win it works perfectly, I really can’t seem to find what’s causing this...

                  What are those great IE workarounds that were mentioned earlier? I read about the <body onload=... and wrapping the GMaps script inside a function, but that really doesn’t suit me as I don’t want to mess with the sitewide template just to get the map working...

                  Anyone had the same problems? Any clues on how to solve this?

                    First I would like to congrat you for this wonderful snippet I use in my tourist information website about Rio de Janeiro/Brazil www.easy-rio.com
                    My question is. How do I start the map without any marker and toogle marker on/off with the text links? Like is in this website http://www.netguru.fi/modx/googlemaps.html

                      FYI, I just noticed the old conversation about the IE issue with the Google Maps script:

                      The IE issue you are experiencing with the dialog "Cannot open the internet site ... Operation aborted" is a result of a bug triggered in IE by certain javascripts (I experienced the same thing implementing UFO yesterday) when there is a BASE tag in your page that either has no closing tag or only has a short closing tag (i.e. <base href="[(site_url)]" />). Change your BASE tag in your templates to use a full closing tag, and the problem goes away magically...
                      <base href="[(site_url)]"></base>


                      If you need HTML 4 validity, you can use IE conditionals...
