i’ve found the problem, it’s the RewriteRule with the FileDownload Plugin

I’m getting this error in the system log:
I didn’t change the snippet code.

any ideas where to look for it?

using filedownload 2.5 on MODx 0.9.5

The snippet or plugin code has an extra <?php at the beginning; probably also an extra ?> at the end.

Thanks Susan. I removed the tags from the plugin and the log is fine now.
However, if I try to edit the snippet I can make changes to the code, but if I delete the <?php tag and hit Save it’s just showing up again in the snippet.

its ok if they are in the snippet, they are automatically removed when saved and added when editted. Having them in the plugin does cause problems though and should be removed there.

I’ve copy/pasted a snippet into the new snippet field, forgetting that the field comes with its own <?php and ?> tags, and thus had double tags. Doesn’t like that.

I assume this is the same for any snippet and not just for FileDownload, correct?

Hmmm, I had dropped the ball on this.
In the meantime I upgraded to FileDownload 2.5 and MODx 0.9.5, but I still get the same kind of error (the line number changes is all )

Definitely something is happening with my config somewhere...

I digged into Susan’s suggestion that line endings were screwed up (you have encoded the file with CRLF i.e windows line ending, I re-encoded into LF i.e unix line endings but no change...).

Any idea ?

I checked, re-uploaded files again and still doesn’t work...
Could it be a ownership problem with the files ? Some have nobody as owner, some have the user account as owner...
