Support/Comments for FileDownload

OK, folks... Here is FileDownload 2.5, it now uses the plugin created by Adam (OnO) instead of the download script. So before I get this into the repository I would love for some people to test it out. All of the install details are in the file about.html

Some of the parameters have changed/been deleted so have a look at the documentation to get it up and running. I think this is a much more secure solution than previous solutions.

It’s so strange... It works perfectly only if I not use the TV!
(I’m using subfolder directory browsing)

OK, its working fine without using the plugin as it did before. It now shows the details in the subdirectories, which it wasn’t with the last version.

One issue that is till present is multiple snippet calls on one page, using comma separated entries in the TV.

If you visit http://www.emanz.ac.nz/resources.html you can see how it is meant to be, it’s using 3 separate snippet calls. If you look at the attached picture you can see what happens if I use the plugin.

[Edit: In my Sandbox (as per signature) is a page called Library which is using the plugin if you need to see it in action]

Yes the file counting only works if you use the plugin, the descriptions have nothing to d owith the tv and should work fine in either. Do you have this somewhere where I can look at the problems?

unfortunatly this will not work the way the snippet and plugin are currently implmented. Try setting the &groupByDirectory parameter to 1 though, with 1 snippet call. You can modify the template to try and style it the way you did before.

:( Unfortunatley some of the folders need to be sorted by ASC and some DESC so I can’t do it with one Snippet call?

I don’t mind if people can see the path to the file, the problem is making it so they cant downloaded the files directly when they are not logged in. Is there anyway to protect a folder so files are only available when users are logged in? (I’m gussing not since that is why this Snippet exists)

Unfortunatly, I don’t think there is a way to do that. With the snippet (not using the plugin) you can set which goups can download, but that just makes the link inactive. If a users knows the path they can still download files.

hi everybody and happy new year
i upgraded to 2.5 and now im using the Plugin (i want secure downloads)
but, its never working the first time ^^

i followed the instructions to install the plugin, but how do you call a download ?

i tried [tt][!FileDownload?tplList=`chkFiles`&getFolder=`files/myapp`!][/tt]

my FileDownload TV contains that: [tt]D:\www\v3\files\myapp[/tt]

the url processed is [tt]http://www.mysite.com/fr/Downloads/myapp_v270f_-_fr_x86.exe[/tt]
the file is stored in [tt](modx root)/files/myapp/myapp_v270f_-_fr_x86.exe[/tt]

i think the plugin works, because i get a secure url, but when i click on the link, i cant download the file... maybe its the snippet call ?

any idea ?
