    freeware version of MAMP, not pro.
    Just looked and it’s running on PHP 5.3.5.
    I’ll try setting it to 5.2.17 instead.

    I downloaded and installed Evo 1.0.5 that had the Jan 19, 2011 release.

    Hopefully this will be as simple as changing to PHP ver 5.2!

    Thanks for pointing that one out einsteinsboi!

      FINALLY!!!!

      Indeed switching to PHP ver 5.2 fixed the issue. smiley

      It is now outputting the css styling. Thanks for all that assisted with this!

      I am sure this won’t be my final post to this forum, as I am sure there will be many other learning curves ahead, but good to know the support is here!

        Came up with an issue I didn’t expect now. Going thru the rest of the tutorial for the swansong template I am unable to change the css file in text wrangler, or modify it within modx, to update the background and use the file bgd.png that is in my images folder. Here is the line I changed in the css file to show the correct path to the background image:

        old css coding:
        background : #003250 url(img/bgd.png) repeat;

        new coding:
        background : #003250 url(assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/images/bgd.png) repeat;

        Background is not changing to the textured version of the bgd.png it is still the solid blue-ish color...

          The path is wrong. Since you’re editing the css file which is sitting just outside the images folder, the path needs to be ../images/bgd.png and not the full path you have there. So try editing your code to

          background : #003250 url(../images/bgd.png) repeat;

          Remember to clear your cache if the changes don’t show up immediately.

            Any significance to the ".." in there?

            I put your code in exactly as you had it: "background : #003250 url(../images/bgd.png) repeat;" (no quotations of course).

            my actual folder paths are as follows with my mamp setup:

            assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/images/bgd.png

            and the other:

            assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/styles/style.css

            I tried clearing my cache as well with no luck.

              The two dots indicate the directory above the current one. In your case that should be the swansong directory (just above the styled directory where the CSS file is) so that path should be correct.

                I guess my next question would be do the 2 dots make a call to go to the directory up, or would the proper path be spelled out:

                background : #003250 url(swansong/images/bgd.png) repeat;

                  What BobRay said smiley

                  That path should be correct. Are you sure that you moved the images from the img directory in the swansong download and placed them in your images directory?

                    No, the two dots place you inside the swansong directory, so it needs to be url(../images/bgd.png) See the link I posted for you in the post just before this one

                      Hmmph,

                      Might be an interesting question... Do I need to upload the bgd.png file to:

                      assets/images

                      or is it correct that I have it loaded to:

                      assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/images/bgd.png

                      The png file is verified and definitely in swansong/images/bgd.png
