    Have ModX up and running on my MacBook Pro and need to start with the basics. Running ModX Evo and need to build up a reasonable website. Looking for someone who could donate some time to me, or reasonable rates for time, in order to learn the basics and get me running. I’m located in the Chandler area, but am willing to meet anywhere in the valley. Let me know if you can help out!

    Thanks!

      Any one? Any one? Bueller? Bueller? grin

      Feel free to send me a private message on the forum if you would be willing to work with me, and what type of rates you would consider.

      Thanks!

          I had not seen that particular one AMDbuilder, thank you for the link and I will definitely go thru it. I would still most definitely like to spend some good one-on-one time with someone to work thru some things in well. I don’t have a huge budget to do that but will to pay for someone’s time to do so. So if anyone has a couple hours to with then please send me a private message and we can chat a little more about what I am looking to do.

          Thanks again!

            That link is helping AMDBuilder and I am using the example css template in the tutorial. I am using MAMP on my MacBook Pro so I am not sure if the link href needs to be different to tell it where the location is to find the css file? This is what I have right now for the coding:

            <title[*pagetitle*] - [(site_name)]</title>

            <base href="[(site_url)]" />
            <link href="htdocs/assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/styles/styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type=text/css" />
            <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=[(modx_charset)]" />

            Problem is, it’s not outputting the swansong page with any css formating. I am using the latest version of MODx Evolution, and not the same version being used in the tutorial. Would that have something to do with it?

              Try changing that to:

              <link href="assets/templates/mytemplates/swansong/styles/styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type=text/css" />

              You shouldn’t need the htdocs/ there.

                Thanks einstein, I had actually gone back and changed that as I understand the relationship of MAMP/MODx a little better now and how the files work. I am still having the same problem, it is outputting the page with no css styling. Not sure what is going on now! I looked in the file directory from the modx manager and all the files are indeed in there.

                  I also noticed that when I tried to change the img source per the tutorial, it was not outputting once it was saved. Nothing is outputting on my new template format-wise. A bit stuck!!!

                    Are you sure you have the css files and images in the correct folders? Also, what do you see when you view source for your ouputted HTML page? Check to make sure that the paths look correct

                      I’ve verified the are in the right folders. Even if I go to the directory on the modx manager they are showing. Here is the viewed source (first few lines) at this point when I output to Safari:

                      <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN\" \"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd\">
                      <html xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\">
                      <head>

                      <meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=UTF-8\" />

                      </head>

                      <body>
