New Modx Book

Hey guys, I preordered on 31 August, and didn't receive it, and don't have where to look, as tirebiter said, didn't get any response from the Modx team about this...

They are sending them out, I recieved one, so have a little more patience.

understand the "patience" comment, but valid point on the need for communication...

@danielmiguel, I was pretty sure I responded to you on the book but I am sorry if you didn't receive it. All preorders have been shipped. We have received reports of folks getting the books in Europe and depending on the speed of your mail service and customs, things could take longer in some countries.

@bchalker we have tried to respond individually to every enquiry and have posted 2 blog posts to keep people updated on the preorder shipping. I know you are not being critical but underscoring the need to communicate. One of the challenges we have is many channels for communicating and some people don't always see the messages.

@smashingred Absolutely. Wasn't being critical in the slightest. You guys communicate effectively and promptly. Love it. One of the things that keeps my loyalty Strictly aimed at this instance.

You took it as it was meant. You know what, though, the positive is that people are anxious for it, rather than indifferent. Modx and Revo has "slicken-ed" into a sweet, useable, extendable, and beautiful CMS that people what to learn about, inside and out.

I've just received the book. It looks really good, but guys, you could insert some images. There is no one image in all the book. You describe everything, but images are so useful in some contexts. I'll read it and try to give you a feedback, but the content of the book looks really good

I knew this would be a complaint (in fact I'm surprised it took so long to come up).

Try to imagine how long the book would be with screenshots (or how much content would have to be deleted to make room for them).


Add to that the fact that the Manager is constantly changing and many screenshots would be incorrect. IMHO, an incorrect screenshot is worse than no screenshot.

I understand what you say, but... why not showing at least some screenshots to show the manager and not describe it? Every technical book has this problem, and you can explain that the screenshot correspond to MODX version 2.x . The manager is in constant change, but the basic things are still there. Moreover, EVO and Revo has the same structure, but different look. The book is so big, and I understand that screenshots for everything is not a solution, but.... screenshots for "something" could be fine.
The manager is in constant change, but other aspects of the book can change too.
I miss something discussed in forums some times, and it's advanced templating techniques and other best practices in this area. Maybe for second edition?

Hey Jay, I sent another message via contact form on the website, haven't received the book yet.

My MODX book is not here yet... Very frustrating... I preordered it on 31 August and still no book, no support, no tracking code... nothing...

Doesn't even get a response for MODX on a message I sent more than 2 months ago.

:(

P.S.: At least the PDF version should be offered to me, seriously, what problem do you guys have with my country? Do you guys think that are only monkeys in Brazil?
