So I’ve been looking at the moo.fx package and was wondering what people thought. Should we make this script only use the moo.fx scripts to keep things small and eliminate scriptaculous altogether? Or should it be possible to use either the moo.fx package or the scriptaculous package?

I’m not really leaning in favor of either one at this point so some suggestions would be great.

I tend to think moo.fx is better and considerably lighter in this instance. Adam’s nuking Script for QE, too...

Can someone take a look at this with searchstyle set to relevance? I have been getting an error and cannot figure out why, it has something to do with the sql statement I think.

        Any help would be appreciated.

            Hi, Kylej and all.

First, thank you for your works.

We, japanese user community members, had fought with this snippet for days.
The reason is because it could not search Japanese character string.
Ajax can talk with server in Japanese UTF-8 encoding well, but the other encodings, like EUC-JP, Shift_JIS, cause the garbling. Especially on safari.
At last we found solution. The only solution to operate correctly with main browsers at any japanese and english encodings is that all requests and responses must be converted into UTF-8 string and encode URL format.

You may think of this method complicatedly, I want you please to understand that this solution is necessary for Japanese.

The attached zip file is packed three modified files. ajaxSearch.js, ajaxSearch.php and FlexSearchForm.inc.php based on 3 april version.

            Regards

Eastbind - my thanks to you and the community for helping make this snippet better. Search is very important to most sites so the more we can add to this the better grin

Here is the latest version with many additions. I have tried to incorporate all of the things posted in this thread. Let me know if I have missed anything. Here is what has changed:

                    • The code from Eastbind and the japanese community has been integrated.
                    • The search highlighting has been comlpeted (taken from Marc’s highlight code).
                    • The code has been modified to work with Marcs tag cloud snippet.
                    • The plugin Search_Highlight has been included to carry the search highlighting to the linked page (modified from sottwells code).
                    • The inital text is removed when a search is started.
                    • The javascript is added to the page automatically through the api (this will not work correctly unless you have patched your modx version). This can also be removed through a parameter.

I think that is it. If anyone has time to test this out that would be great. The instructions for setting this up are in the file ajaxsearch_readme.txt

If you want to see this working you can go here:

(The search stuff is kind of ugly because I didn’t do any styling, but you can get the idea of how it works.)

Everyone should upgrade to the 0.9.2 version for security reasons alone. Then they’ll also get the benefit of this feature working properly! cool
