Hi thiemo,
This should work:
1. Under ’Manage Modules’, the left-hand column is called ’Icon’.
2. Click the icon for the Menu Index module and you’ll get a popup menu.
3. Select ’Run Module’.
You’ll then be able to reorder your menu items in full Ajax glory!
Hope that helps, Garry

I’m hoping that one day the module menus will be changed so that clicking on the module name will run the module. Having editing the module as the "default" behaviour is good for developers, but is not so good for users!
ah, now. That’s wonderful! A great module indeed! Thanks a million.

Yes, I’ve been considering such an option. There would be a main menu item, Modules, and then the submenu would suck up the modules from the database, check permissions, and then display links for each permitted module. I’ve thought that this section would just be for running modules; you’d still need to go into the Manage Modules section to actually edit or create a new module. I have seen from hard experience that the more separated the actual development stuff is from the webmaster/user stuff the better.
I’ve hesitated to get into it too deeply, though, because the Manager will be changing drastically and it’ll either be done in the new manager to begin with, or have to be done all over again.
As I said
in this other thread, I watched the 9 minutes, aside from the menu sorting thing, didn’t see that much AJAX there.
But yeah it’s interresting to have an idea of what the competition is doing
This being said, I think having this kind of capabilities directly in the frontend will come in due time, when we’ll get a handle on AJAX enhanced MODx templates (like banzai has started to experience with...). Or maybe this will be directly integrated into DropMenu ? Interresting idea...
Anyway, if you like the menu sorting from the frontend, check the AJAX enhanced wordpress template,
bloxpress...

Dunno whether this had been expressed before or not. Any thought of having 2 manager for MODx? One is for the programmer/designer, which looks like what we have right now, and the other one will the front end editor like quick edit, but with enchance features, such as allowing creating new page, viewing document listing for that specific user, customize field display for specific page, deleteing document, and etc etc etc....
Don’t think having two manager would be a good idea... though I like the idea of having different degree of control and complexity depending on user’s role (it’s already the case but we could sure work on usability).
An enhanced quickedit could be nice, those features you mention would be great indeed. Especially since clients seem to like QuickEdit so much they don’t go into the backend unless it’s necessary...
