This is actually the first place I have been, but we will see what I can learn from here. I am excited!
Before i used ModX CMS, i used another CMS called Joomla !.
It is the best known CMS out there with the most extensions.
I think it still has the upperhand compared with ModX CMS, but the main factor for that is that ModX CMS is fairly new.
So i think in the future ModX CMS will rise to a overall better and stable CMS than Joomla ! ever can be !
Thanks
Wordpress for my blog, Drupal and then later on Joomla for my web site. And now will see how MODx will work for me.
First just static html, then I discovered JQuery and ajax and created my own GUIless CMS using PHP to read filetrees of files and folders. It worked pretty well but I couldn’t share it because it was too complicated for a layman to interact and understand how it functioned even though it actually had a simple logical structure.
THEN, I found expression engine, which I thought was pretty cool, but just as I was starting out on a new site I discovered MODX. EE is pretty good by all the other CMS standards, but MODX makes way more sense and is far simpler from a site architecture perspective. I switched to MODX but as I was in no rush at the time I waited for Revolution and I wasn’t disappointed.
I would marry it if I could, but then MODX would be comitting bigamy no doubt.
The thing that stops people being good web designers is when they think they can computer program because they know HTML.
as most of you I’ve startet in ’94 with a text editor. Later we switched to golive and it’s predecessors.
Then over a long time only via vi on a terminal in a self programmed CMS mostly based on perl and modperl (oouuch).
Later on we did some things in drupal and wordpress, tried some typo3 jobs.
In 97 we heard of MODx and from then on, all our websites were built with MODx (except for some minor wordpress blogs).
Till today weve done around 30 sites running MODX.
Lots of Joomla, since the early days.. I’ve always been a fan
More recently, Silverstripe... which I hate, but have to use for corporate reasons !

I’m using Smarty (Ha! It’s not cms anyway...).
I’m a big fan of Smarty and develop my own cms that incorporate Smarty. Bless on me when I found MODx also use Smarty.

I was using Plone, but it was getting more and more complicater to realize small to midsized Projects. I am using MODX evo since 3 years and now i’m starting with revo - it feels good.
