That's how you do it. It's only a global system-wide setting, it's designed to be editable. System Settings is not an edict from above written in stone.

      Hello again,

when I try to delete it I get the following message:

You cannot remove this Content Type, as it is currently in use by Resources in MODX. Please re-assign the Content Types of those Resources before proceeding.

Obviously because I already have documents using this setting, Which means I have to go and edit each one of them individually and change the setting.

This seems like an unnecessary tedious task just to remove suffixes from my urls.

In Evo all I had to do was change one system setting, while in Revo I have to edit every document. That can't be right.

And then just what would I set the Content Type to? There doesn't seem to be an option to not have a Content Type despite what has been said by previous comments in this thread.

Don't try to remove the content type, just edit the right-hand field and leave it empty.

System -> Content Types. The row for HTML, edit the File Extensions field to be whatever you want, and save.

As far as containers being given a suffix of /, that's in the System Settings, the Friendly URLs section. Again, you can edit the Value field to be whatever you want. In that case, you don't "save", just hit the return key or click on the row outside of the input field and it will save.

There's no option to edit/update Content Types in System Settings, only Delete them.

If I try and create a new Content Type and leave the file extension field empty I get a data error message.

Next I tried creating a new Content Type with just the / as the extension. That almost worked. It replace the .html with /
which is strange as according to the System Settings for FURLS / are supposed to be stripped from the ends of furls.

                OK,

was finally able to create a blank suffix that worked.

I created a new Content Type and left the extension blank. (I'd actually tried that before, but the first time when I went to my webpages it tried to download it.)

                Anyway it works now.

I still have to go thru every document and change all the Content Types (which would be a real pain if you had lots of documents.

It would be much easier if I could just edit this in the System Settings/Content Types.

I don't understand what the problem is.

Go to System -> Content Types, and in the row for HTML simply double-click on the file extension (.html), the form field appears, delete the .html, and save.

Then in System -> System Settings, go to the Friendly URLs section and again double-click on the / to get the editing field, delete the /, then hit return (or click in the same row outside of the field) to save.

If you are not able to do this, then you have something seriously wrong with your MODx installation.

                    Aaaah,

double click, and here's me trying to right click and update settings like I have to do elsewhere in Revo. (lol)

                    Also, just a question:

In the FURLS trim characters section it says :"Characters to trim from the ends of a provided resource alias" and then "/.-_"

The way I read that is that these are the characters that it will remove from the end.

Of course that's not actually the case, if you want to remove them you have nothing in the Value setting.

Am I reading it wrong or has it been written wrong?

Some places you can right-click and get a context menu, some places you can double-click to get editing fields, some places you can do both. It does get confusing. After a while you get in the habit of trying a bit of everything.

As far as I understand, if these characters appear at the end of an alias, they will be removed.
