My site I have been working on for a few versions of Revolution still has them in beta 5 as a hold over in an upgrade from the previous versions.
The clean install I am currently implementing does not have them.
The values were left in the modx_system_settings table during the upgrade, if anyone wants to locate those and delete them (just the settings: friendly_url_prefix, friendly_url_suffix) NOT the whole table.

Regarding the ".html" suffix automatically added for all HTML content types... how would this be removed? You can’t leave the file extension field blank when you create a content type.
Thanks.

If you are pointing to a container it is removed automatically (if there are child resources -- I believe)
If you are pointing to a child the extension will match whatever resource type has been assigned to the resource.
For example for my resume, I had to create a pdf resource type.
And you are correct, in that, a resource cannot be defined without an extension being provided, as all resources should have a type. This is by design in Revolution, if my understanding is correct.
Thinking like a system admin and focusing on user policies -- it only makes sense for this functionality to be this way. Revolution is foundational framework and the (site) structure needs to be very clear to be effective.

That makes sense from an architecture point of view... but it can kill some hard-earned SEO points if I tried to transition a site to Revo that does not use extensions in its child pages. Is it possible to have a default content type "pick up the ringing phone" if no extension is included? It might make good sense to use an HTML content type for a page with no extension (as one common example).

Thanks, Jason. That’s what I thought.
I was able to add new php content and to name some pages *.php
the only way I managed without suffix is to set the document to container. that’s adds a backslash / though...
On the confluence page I assume Friendly URLs is meant to be enabled? The image shows it as disabled.
In RC1 I was forced to enter an extension when creating a Content Type but I could subsequently amend and remove the extension
I could remove the file extension, but still couldn’t access the content without adding a .html to the address bar e.g. /contact = 404 /contact.html works fine. Did anyone find a workaround for this?
I need to port a existing site which doesn’t use file extensions to a newer CMS and since earlier versions of Modx could handle empty suffix I thought Modx would be a good choice. But it might be quicker just to port the site to Drupal or Joombla instead, if there isn’t an easy work-a-round.
