So I tried this cool new feature within 2.0.0 RC-1 and unfortunately cannot get it to work. I followed the steps (screenshots) in the documentation, but I can neither hide/rename or whatever a field of the edit/create resource form.

What steps do I have to take to hide the content area for example or to hide description field whenever I create or edit a resource?

Thank you for your help in advance.

      For one: http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/FC-Resource

You can hide the description field with:

Create 2 rules, one for "core - resource/create", and the other for "core - resource/update", with these values:

      Name: description
      Containing Panel: modx-panel-resource
      Rule: Field Visible
      Value: 0

The content field cannot be hidden at this time.

Thank you so much for your super fast answer. I don’t know why I did not get it to work at first try, but now it hides the fields just like I want them to do.
        Even the constraints work.

Again thank you and sorry for wasting your time.

Definitely not wasting our time. This is what we’re here for. Thanks for using RC-1.

I got you to come here rather than Twitter, as it’s much easier to answer issues here. smiley

We’ll look into hiding the content field for RC-2, but that’s a lot more complex, as we’d have to deal with RTEs, etc.

Also, I’m not 100% sure how this will work regarding default values of form-customization-hidden fields. That is an issue to be ironed out before RC-2. Be warned.

I must be blind, I don’t see where you add these rules. Do you add them to the property set of the template?

                Security -> Form Customization.

I am really loving this feature, but I am curious, is there anyway or plans for the ability to define multiple field names inside of one rule? For instance, I could hide multiple fields by entering "introtext, description" etc ?

I also noticed that under the available fields here: http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/FC-Resource that if you add a rule to manipulate a field under the containing panel of modx-page-settings that it won’t work unless you change it to modx-panel-resource in the rule. I am using MODx Revolution 2.0.0-rc-3 rev6986 ... does that just need to be updated in the docs or will that change in the MODx?

This is the first time developing a site from the start using Revolution and it has been great so far – thanks for all your hard work.

The docs are a little out of date. I can’t get a rule setting a TV default value to work using the settings there and some of the Actions are no longer correct.

I have another question – and it might just be a case of trying to use the tool in the wrong way and should use another method to achieve this. I wanted to define the default template for a template and it doesn’t seem possible. My thought was trying to replicate the inherit selected template plugin: http://modxcms.com/extras/package/?package=214

I thought it worked, but it ended up changing the default template for the entire site regardless of where I was trying to create the resource and wether the rule was active or not.

By the way, thanks the addition of defining the rule to multiple fields in the latest svn version.
