Using this provider http://modxcms.com/assets/provider.js I’m getting this error :-

    [2009-05-26 10:20:51] (ERROR @ /revdev/connectors/workspace/providers.php) Error in getting a response from the server: http://modxcms.com/assets/provider.js

Using the other provider I have
    http://wtf.modxcms.com/addons2.js
    seems OK.

Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

          I’m kinda lost here...

On my local test site under Xampp, everything works perfectly fine.
On my online site, I can’t have the packages tree, non matter which provider I use : the screen stays blank.

I used the same SVN version (the lattest one, loaded yesterday) for both, and the providers adress are the same.

Here is the related error log :

Note : the warnings also appear on my local site, so I’m guessing they are not the issue here. What I don’t get is the error with the response from the server ?

That’s not the error response from the server, but rather that install.

It’s hard to debug further without more information on your server environment. Also, check this:

            • Are you sure your server is up-to-date on the latest SVN?
            • Your core/packages directory is writable by the webserver, specifically php (usually 755)
            • See if the transport package zip is in the core/packages folder after you try and download it
            • Try completely clearing core/cache/ and downloading the package again.

The problem is that the package list is not displayed.

I loaded and built the SVN I use yesterday, so it’s for sure the latest
The core/packages directory rights is indeed 755

After I select the provider, I am taken to the "Select Package to download", with (normaly) the tree view, and a window "please wait... loading..." that stays on for something like a minute, then disappear. However, the tree view stays blank, I don’t see the list of packages.

What puzzles me is that on my local test site, which has the exact same built and configuration, after a few seconds, I do get the package list !
Is it possible that some other directory need to have its rights set to 755 ?

Again, I cannot help you further without some more information about your server environment. This includes, but is not limited to:

                • PHP Version
                • MySQL Version
                • Apache Version
                • Client (you) OS
                • Client Browser (and version)
                • Is your server behind a proxy?
                • Any related errors in the Apache/PHP logs

Please provide these before we can further assist you.

                  PHP Version : 5.2.9
                  MySQL: 5.0.32
                  Apache : I don’t know (it’s a shared server from OVH)
I’m using Windows XP, with Firefox 3.0.10 or IE 7 (same result)

I get the news from the home page, so grabbing contents work (plus I have a SMF forum on the same server, and there is no problem to get new packets)

I have uploaded the files again, I really don’t understand...

In order to determine what permissions you need set, first you need to determine what user the PHP process is running as. On some shared hosts, this will be the same user that is executing Apache (when SAPI is used), on others it will be the same as your FTP account (when suPHP, FastCGI, etc. is used). If you do not know, you’ll need to contact the host, but generally you can tell by looking at the generated cache files and seeing what user owns them. If it is the latter, the instructions from Shaun will work (i.e. 755); if it is the former, you likely will need to make the cache and packages folders writable as 777. However, this should have been checked at setup time and warnings generated if there were not writable.

The /core/cache/logs/error.log might reveal the problems as well.

Now I have the following in the error log :
