Fatal error: Class 'PDO' not found... What?

I’m having a similar problem. This is all brand new to me. I have the manager up ok and it seems like it is acting correctly. I created a template and put in some content as directed, but when I go to actual webpage I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class ’PDO’ not found in /home/mysite/core/model/modx/modx.class.php on line 361

I tried putting the following lines in the php.ini:

extension=pdo.so
extension=pdo_mysql.so

The error message disappeared, but I only got a blank page.

That’s really odd that the manager works and the front-end does not -- if I’m not mistaken, the manager requires the PDO stuff every bit as much as the front-end. Did you try clearing your cache? Maybe the error was cached.

Hi Everett. Thank you for responding. I did clear my cache, and I have tried it on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, as well as on 2 different computers. Could I have done something wrong in the install?

It’s possible something got messed up in the install I guess. I’d try creating a new directory and re-trying the install. It’s really strange that the manager works... is there an .htaccess rule that’s tweaking things in the document root? You’d better post your server details... PHP version, OS, all that jazz.

I just installed the new Revolution of Modx. I’m also getting the same error when I visit the main site:

I’m also able to access the manager and it seems to work just fine. I’d like any advice on the issue before I contact my host if possible. Here are my infos:

phpinfo() Configure Command with pdo:

Any suggestions or any help on what I should ask or have done?

Before contacting your host, did you try a complete reinstall? I’m not sure what’s going on there, but something funny is going on if several people are reporting the same symptoms.

When you did the installation, did you unzip the zip file on the server? Or did you unzip locally and then upload the files? I have had problems due to FTP wackiness where some files did not upload or did not upload fully. It’s a common problem, I know, but worth mentioning.

Were there any errors detected during setup?

I have not tried to reinstall it yet.

I did unzip it and then upload the files. I was going to attempt to do a reinstall again. There also was no errors when installing.

I will post back when I attempt the reinstall and let you know how it went.

I have downloaded the new pl2 release did a fresh new database, user, etc. I’m getting the same problem, can log into the manager, but can’t see any main page. Get the same error:

Did you create at least one page in the manager so the front-end has something to show? That’s the only idea I got...

I didn’t at first, but just tried it no change at all.
