make change to resource using RTE and modx hangs with "saving" endless loop

A million thanks to you modx devs! So far version 4.0.4 rc1 of the tinyMCE package is working fine and I haven’t had the bug yet!

I’ve had this "endless save" issue a few times. It seems tied to a certain resources, not TinyMCE (which I never use)

It takes me back to the Manager home page and my resource is saved anyways. This would be problematic with a client though.

I have the same save-loop problem in all browsers.

Same problem here... I can refresh a couple of seconds after pressing save and the page appears to have saved correctly. It does not occur on all save actions, but the majority of them it does.

I’ve had the same thing on a couple of occasions with the only Revo site I’ve worked with, once with saving a chunk and once with a resource. On one occasion the page (in the front-end) in question (the one with the chunk tags) returned a server error when refreshed to see if the change had actually been saved. Closing the browser tab and re-opening the Manager and re-editing and saving cleared everything up.

The server involved is stable; it’s being used for a number of Evo sites with no problems.

After the tinymce update this problem seemed to be fixed for me, but now I’m working on a different site and it’s back.
Strange thing is that with me it only seems to happen on a modx install that uses multiple contexts.
Saving a document works fine when I create it by clicking with my right-mousebutton on the tree, but it hangs when I try to save a document created by clicking the "create resource" icon.
I also get the saving loop when i try to save changes made in a document.

Saving some modDocument resources hangs with "Please Wait / Saving..." message:

The problem seems to occur for me if I have a template variable which uses tinymce, as well as having tinymce active for the Resource Content text area. Therefore there are two instances of tinymce on the page. When refreshing the page, the template variable’s instance of tinymce often doesn’t fully load- none of the existing content is displayed within the tinymce area, and you can not click on the text area to edit. In this case the save loop occurs.

However, if I continue to refresh the page until both instances of tinymce fully load, then the save loop does not occur. I can get it to work correctly about every 9th or 10th refresh.

After a bit more experimentation I’ve figured out what was causing the issue in my case.

In efforts to make it easier for a client to edit the resources, I followed this document http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Move+TV+to+Tab to move the template variables from the TV tab to the Create / Edit tab. This way it looks more like EVO with all TV’s on screen without having to change tabs. I disabled the form customization and now I have no issues saving. My guess is that it was moving the TV at the same time that tinymce was trying to load.
