Cannot do a Fresh install of modx-2.0.0-pl MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid

I had this exact same problem installing 2.0.5-pl - except on Ubuntu.

Files and folders are all there. I manually run through all the checks in /setup/includes/modinstall.class.php, ’public function findCore()’,in a ’[tt]php -a[/tt]’ shell, they all pass, returning 1:

Then I thought, maybe this is permissions related - ’[tt]php -a[/tt]’ shells will run with my permissions, I think?

This page (http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Advanced+Installation) says that the ’[tt]/core[/tt]’ folder needs to be readable and the ’[tt]/core/cache[/tt]’ needs to be writeable by php - which I don’t think it was before. Changed that like this and that fixed it:

[tt]sudo chmod -R 0755 ${SITE_FOLDER}/core/
sudo chmod -R 0777 ${SITE_FOLDER}/core/cache/[/tt]

The rest of the installer then proceeded fine and installed. I got to the last but which offers to remove the ’[tt]/setup[/tt]’ folder and then redirects you to the manager, clicked Ok - and got a blank screen.

After poking around for a while in the newly installed folders and DB to make sure there was nothing obvious missing, I just did this:

[tt]sudo chmod 0777 -R ${SITE_FOLDER}/[/tt]

and that seemed to sort it - I’m now logged into the manager and everything seems to be working fine. I know that’s not a great idea, but I was getting fed up by that point. Is there documentation somewhere which lists what permissions need to be set to what for revo? Just the output from ’[tt]tree -dp[/tt]’ in the root of an ideally setup revo install would be great.

The installer informs you of most permissions issues itself, so I’m not sure what you did TBH. You’ll have to provide details about your php configuration for us to assist in diagnosing what’s wrong with it.

I am trying to do a fresh install of revo 2.0.6 and am getting the same error:

Your MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid

Tried changing the permissions on /core/ & /core/cache/ and still encounter the same problem. I KNOW the path is correct. The server I am installing on is running Apache. Any thoughts?

It let’s you edit the path if it’s wrong, or if the file is not writable by the web server, it tells you how to go about editing it with the proper path.

Look at all the paths set in the core/config/config.inc.php file and make sure they are correct.

first of all
ht.access --> php_value date.timezone Europe/Moscow and php.ini ---> date.timezone = Europe/Moscow, then modified ht.access --> .htaccess

then checked all permissions

path is var/www/example.com/public_html/core

var --> 0775

example.com --> 0775
public_html --> 0775
core/cache -->0777
core/export -->0777
core/packages -->0777

made empty inc.php

nano core/config/config.inc.php, --> 0666

that’s right?

then I tried to modified config.inc.php



hah it works before i had tried to modify index.php and config.core.php

Make sure your PHP session configuration is valid and working.

one more problem, I just want to do advanced install, but when I open setup i see

To use PHP 5.3.0+, you must set the date.timezone setting in your php.ini. Please do set it to a proper timezone before proceeding. A list can be found here.

I changed php.ini

date.timezone = Europe/zone

restarted apache service but nothing changed

any tips?

Sometimes there are more than one php.ini file.
You have to find the right one.
