Cannot do a Fresh install of modx-2.0.0-pl MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid

When I go to http://www.yoursite.com/setup/

I get this error:

MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid

MODX_CORE_PATH = /core/

directory structure = C:\HostingSpaces\usernet\yourwebsite.com\wwwroot\core and C:\HostingSpaces\usernet\yourwebsite.com\wwwroot\setup

I am trying to install on a windows server 2008 64 bit machine.

I am not using the advanced install zip file.

Is there something I am doing wrong because when I look in the code in modinstall.class.php

it has this function

file_exists(MODX_CORE_PATH) will not be a file it is always a path and also shouldn’t realpath(’’) be used when looking for a file because you never know where the file is actually located in the root directory of a server.

It has to be an absolute path from the root of the file system.

And file_exists() will return true for directories.

So what would I put in for MODX_CORE_PATH for it to work?

The absolute path to the the MODx core (including the core/ dir itself) from the root of your filesystem. e.g. if you installed Revolution in /var/www/domain.tld/

Are you trying to move the core to a different location? Or why are you even messing with the MODX_CORE_PATH anyway?

I am not trying to mess with the core path when I do a regular install it cannot find the path. It may be because I am on a windows machine.

I had to move the core to c:\ my root directory and then it found it.

I do Windows Vista installs on localhost all the time without changing anything and I think a number of people have installed on Windows7 with no problems.

If you are running XAMPP, do you have it in c:\xampp as recommended?

Well, perhaps you could provide more information about your environment if you’d like additional insight or to help us understand if there is a bug involved here.
