5.1.2? 5.2.0? Why is everyone running buggy, out-of-date PHP versions? This is almost certainly the problem. I suggest updating to something recent and then trying Revolution. Unfortunately, many of the early 5.1.x and 5.2.x releases had PDO-related bugs that affect a completely PDO-based system like MODx Revolution. But fortunately, they have fixed these bugs in subsequent releases of PHP and it works great in 5.2.6+ for sure.

Maybe the reason are the system requirements in the doc!?

We obviously cannot test every version and combination. We update the docs when we find versions with bugs that make it impossible to run Revo, but let’s be reasonable here. 5.2.0 is the first release of the 5.2.0 branch and, well, it’s buggy, especially in the PDO extension which Revo depends on. Same with 5.1.6. If those versions had bugs in them, then I would probably not recommend using any release in the respective branch before those either. It should work in 5.1.1 or above according to the PHP documentation, but certain bugs and environment issues (like mismatched MySQL server and client API libs) we cannot control or track 100% ourselves. As consumers of PHP, and MODx, you guys are going to have to take some ownership here and help us figure out what problems you are running into if you are running old, out-of-date releases with a known bug list. The we’ll be glad to update the system requirements with notes on environments to avoid.

Of course, you are right.
But if I’ve a short look at this thread, there are many different PHP Versions with the same problem. So it can’t be only a bug in the 5.2.0 branch I think!?

This PHP versions are mentioned here with the same error:

* PHP: 5.2.0

THe original issue that affected 5.2.8 was resolved, so only ones now are early releases in 5.1 and 5.2.

It’s an environment problem; i.e. bugs in PHP/PDO, or people using experimental mysql client APIs.

I run PHP 5.2.6 / litespeed and got the same problem, only with revo beta 4. revo beta 3 installed quite fine. Also any other php app install quite fine.

What’s your MySQL client/server version? Memory_limit? Apache version?
