It’d be interesting to actually create an anti-marketing page, titled exactly that with tongue very firmly planted in cheek. MODx Sucks and Here’s 7 Reasons Why ... (or 10, number really doesn’t matter). Brief titles with commentary below like a FAQ of sorts. The thing could be so over the top sarcastic that it might be interesting to see where it turns up. I could see that as making its way to Digg front page actually.
Coupled with some of the subdomains we’re planning on implementing (rtfm.modxcms.com for technical docs, for example), could be fun and still taken seriously if handled properly.

Ryan that would be good. As I said I love to laugh and to make other people laugh.
We could even have a couple of short articles on how to make it more difficult to build your site, a guide for people coming from Joomla (how to create Mambots, Fixed Content Boxes with Odd Names, Unnatural Document management structure).
We could register modxsucks.com and build a whole satire mini site with fake names and blog posts from a persona of an individual who wants things to be as difficult as possible. Throwing out barbs at the dev team and users.
Oh the possibilities (I think we have lots on our plates already) but this really could be a great marketing tool.

Personally, I think that it would be ideal to have the site built on MODx but port the default WP theme and not have a logo at all.
We need to create a character name for the poster and have a great intro paragraph with the points you made. Once we get it up we should have a few posts under the belt of our poster and then drop an "Alert" into the forums and see if we can get defenders to comment and give this poster hell (before figuring out it is a satire).

Yeah that is true. We should really make general points about generic issues that users of other CMSs have without alluding to any one. So Hakken Core maybe? The idea is to create some fun and highlight the key benefits of MODx from a (satirical) haters perspective.

Actually I think we show people legitimate ways to translate workflows they’re comfortable with while poking fun at MODx. Never calling the other systems out for being silly, but showing them how to emulate those workflows. This might even include creating new manager types and stripping out a lot of menu options with permissions ... maybe even go so far as to edit the language files to call things by their other-system names.
