Branding thoughts

I had popped an email off to Ryan last week about that....I figure we have two names to work up: Project Name and Product Name.

Project Names can be anything. Usually you want to follow some sort of convention...so if we stuck with Brain or SiteStorm, naming the project after a weather event would be perfectly in tune with the idea.

I also reccomended famous authors, since MODx allows you to focus on writing and not coding...

I like this idea, although, as you suggest, it only makes sense with a *Storm name.

While I like this, I'd be very careful with this one, as it might be possible to offend someone based upon the writings of a particular author. As dumb as it sounds, I've had clients offended by a lot less. :roll:

Probably another reason not to use things like Zen.

In any case, I thought of something else. Try this on for size...

Coreset - said like corset, which Wikipedia defines as

A corset is a garment worn to mold the torso into a desired shape for aesthetic or orthopaedic purposes (either for the duration of wearing it, or with a more lasting effect)

This follows our philosophy a bit, is short and catchy, is feminine, without being exclusively so, etc...

Anybody like this one?

The name SiteStorm seems to have generated the most positive buzz. I like it because of the possibilities and the fact that I won't have to think up a second logo

Hmmm, I don't think that is unique enough; there is already a web/site-related product called WebStorm with SiteStorm Technology (see http://www.sharpeware.com/r5now/swstatic.nsf/0/6155EF170B344E7B8025686F006F0BC7)

Yup. I saw that site too....but this is a stand we can take, and I think it is a catchy enough name to take off.

I'm OK with SiteStorm, but am not totally sold on it. We've in all reality got no immediate need to decide today, which I'm sure is not exactly what you want to hear... but I'd really also like to give Raymond a chance to jump in and participate as well. He's a bit tied up today is all...

It's definitely in my personal top 5.

Here's a thought:

Ryan and I have both made a list of our top 5 choices. Why doesn't everyone else do the same? We can take the three that are cited the most and then decide from there.

Good idea/bad idea?
