    You’ll also want to have a ServerAlias setting in your Apache configuration file.

    If you’re using virtual hosts with Apache (most shared hosting is), there needs to be a line for the ServerAlias in the VirtualHost block for the domain.
    <VirtualHost 208.64.63.170:80>
    ServerName sottwell.com
    ServerAlias www.sottwell.com

    Then the DNS server knows to send all requests for www.domain.com to the ip address of domain.com, and the web server knows requests to www.domain.com are handled by the domain.com virtual host. Your .htaccess file will rewrite all incoming www.domain.com requests to domain.com requests (or the other way around, if you prefer the main domain to be www.domain.com).

      Thanks for the article I will study it carefully. BTW, I asked my questions because, I didn’t see/understand the answer, sorry for not being up to speed. I’m working on it!

      Thanks for the info on ServerAlias. Yet, another topic for me to study. Thanks.

        Oh, no problem! Ask away! I’m not afraid to ask questions just ask anyone here. Susan’s answer makes more sense when you know about cannonicalization - hence the link to the article.

              Very nice. I really like the design and the site is a piece of cake to navigate, unlike most .edu sites.

              My only suggestion would be to take the email address off the contact page before you get inundated with spam and replace it with either eForm, SPForm, or a custom form that lets people communicate with anyone there. Here’s a nice one (unfortunately done in ColdFusion):

              http://www.anokaramsey.edu/directory/staff_list.cfm

              I don’t think it would be too hard to do in MODx and, if done right, it would let you take all the email addresses off the site.
