Very pretty site, David. If you are using background images for the menu items in the upper left, you might want to consider pre-loading them with a bit of Javascript, because the first time I mouse over each of them they disappear altogether, then finally begin to display.
Thanks for the feedback and for both tips !!! It’s still work in progress and I sure can use advices and tips to improve...
@Susan : Yeah I was aware of this glitch and plan to use the display:none technique to preload images (like I do on my blog), won’t even need javascript I think (unless some reluctant browsers strike again !)
@MadeMyDay : I was aware of the negative margin stuff, but I don’t use it, I don’t remember where but I had read some accessibility argument against that... maybe I am wrong and should consider using those techniques... I’ll try to find the article I am vaguely remembering...

The javascript required technique is really problematic when JS is turned off which is much more common than having CSS turned off. The bonus is that the pure-CSS version also loads quicker and has less overhead, a benefit for lower-bandwidth connected users.

Quote from: MadeMyDay at Mar 29, 2006, 09:36 AMI would appreciate that! I don´t see any accessibility argument against it, because it´s just a picture for a link.
I must be confusing things then, like I say I don’t remember where I read this... I’ll do a check.
Quote from: MadeMyDay For accessibility reasons you should perhaps add a text to the link (additionally to the title), like:
<div id="menu">
<a href="http://www.nodeo.net/amadom/missions/" title="Les missions d'AMADOM" class="missions"><span>missions</span></a>
...
and hide that via #menu a span{ display: none; } , so a screenreader sees the text while normal browsers don´t.
Yeah that’s cool solution Marc, thanks a lot !

Oh that Amadom logo is nice! I would love to have worked on that, drat!
Colours make a huge difference to the perception and emotion of a page. My only criticism of the site would be the green you have chosen, I would go for a more vibrant colour... or try playing with orange or yellow...see if that comes up with something zesty
Smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics.

Well thanks a lot ! I did that one actually
There’s still a lot I need to learn to catch up in this area, like doing those nice bevel and emboss effects, using patterns, transparency... I’d like to have Zi’s skills in this area

I might try that, but the thing is, the colors you see take the client’s wish into account... plus, look aside, I tend to think long term and surfing. I don’t want visitors to get their eyes blown by too vibrant colors

David, did this site ever go live, and if so, have a link?
