    * zen-scape.com => Zenscape

I like zenscape as a name but I absolutely hate URLs with dashes. I used to work for a company whose domain name was Co-Image.com and product offering was on Co-Service.com and in several years I don't think a single customer managed to get the domains right. They always used coimage.com.

Eventually we had to rename both the company and the product.

      I would propose sitesystemx

All major domains are available. Etomite is both a site and content management system with a CMS being of a lower-order in the food-chain.

hehe, I still like the word "imagine".

Interesting point about the hyphen. I never thought about it that way.

Hey, EM what did you write? Or you gonna make me get my staff member who is from Uraguay translate it for me :?

Howdy folks. More naming ideas. My process on this is highly iterative, churn out lots of names, see what gets traction, see what might spring us to the 'real' name. Key things: no acronyms, no frankenames combining phonemes, no e-anything, no esoteric references to mythology that no one gets. The audience is designers with a smidge of developer in them, right? Do something that's easy for *them* to get & pass around.

That said, here's my starting point so far:

          Impress
          Imprint
          Big Tent
          KittyHawk
          MemeMachine
          Zoom
          Canvas
          allyourcmsarebelongtous
          HAL
          Gallery
          Scribbler
          MegaWatt
          MouthtoMouth
          MegaMondoOmni
          Insta
          Bionic
          Secret Weapon
          Special Sauce
          Lightning
          Greased Lightning
Runway (there is an SFA tool with this name...)

Some silly, some serious. The great work continues apace.

Something that might help in this process...

Is if everyone would read the Naming Guide on Igor's site:
            http://www.igorinternational.com/process/igor-naming-guide.pdf

Building the Perfect Beast: The Igor Naming Guide to Creating Product and Company Names

We created the Igor Naming Guide in order to demystify the naming process. In it we show how and why great product and company names work, when focus groups and standard ways of thinking about them might have predicted otherwise. Igor's own naming process is presented in excruciating but logical detail.

Absolutely fascinating stuff. (And thanks to Brian Oberkirch, as I actually found the link off his blog!)

I second InfoClipper's endorsement of the Igor Naming Guide. Their blog, Snark Hunting (http://www.snarkhunting.com) is a humorous log following the good, bad & ugly of naming.

Some of them were at a company called A Hundred Monkeys, so you can find good stuff around that brand as well.

Well, there's always zenscape.org (since we are technically a non-profit group) if you don't like the dashes; just not sure what the existing owner is planning with the .com ;-) [EDIT: looks like the owner is a landscaper; so I think we'd be ok with this one; maybe make a deal with him to help get any .com traffic through his site to us.]

And actually, as far as search engine results go, there is no disadvantage to names with dashes. Just hampers direct access like you say.

lolo ... Not April Fool's anymore where I live laugh

                  @ tangent
April Fool jokes are only supposed to occur before 12am according to the tradition ... ugh ... makes reading the net a bit frustrating ... especially for a mac user like me laugh

Certainly didn't mean to do that! But it's ironic that I've heard few statements that better represent the nature of what Zen is, or is not?!
