From a marketing standpoint looking for uniqueness I wonder if we wouldn't be better off avoiding "CMS" in a domain name. It makes the .com search much easier, but throws it in with a zillion others. I say we keep looking for something creative, metaphorical, and would somebody please get your congressman to sponsor a bill limiting speculators from sitting forever on domain names. :wink:

The Spanish leaning word Macho (speak: Matscho) calls itself one exaggerated male giving man or a person, who orients themselves strongly at the male sex role. The appropriate characteristic is called Machismo. Machisti behavior in most cases accompanies with a revaluation of the male one and a devaluation of the female one.

Very cool, despite not being the only MODx on the world wide web, the vertexworks page comes up directly if you type 'modx' into your address bar and have it set to the I'm Feeling Lucky setting; and comes up on top when searching in Google.

Maybe we should do something with MODx, since we are already getting attention as MODx. Anyone else think so?

The name Modx has grown on us but I don't think it really says anything in its own right.
Acronyms ... 2 years ago when I got my first hosting account and could run some real scripts my control panel had 2 script links one for perl one for php
Guess which I clicked.... perl because it sounded like something I knew

So my first CMS was a perl script

Macho definatly gets a thumbs down from me.
Aussies and Spanish share the meaning on that one

It is fun to try to pick a name! It is like naming a baby!

I see a lot of suggestions on name but in looking at ModX it is really good name for this project.

But unfortunately Modx.org is not available! However ModxCMS.org is still open.

So what do you all think about naming this project as:

ModXCMS.org

most of those as a domain have already been taken.
So has modx.com

modx-works.com is open

Hmmm, modx doesn't sound so informative but I just keep thinking that having site/cms in the name really doesn't fit what modx is heading towards .. in other words those 2 words limit what modx will become.
