eQuill ... SiteStorm ... some Latin/Mythological names I can't recall right now...
We've got lots of time to figure this out and we should not take this lightly. Rehashing what I posted to the mailing list:
First, we need to define our target:
I think our main target is going to be more of the early adopter, technically proficient set, that would love to use a CMS or application framework, but that doesn't have the time to become a proficient programmer or learn a new language. This could be bloggers, developers, corporate development teams, designers and even the occasional small business owner. Think
Ruby on Rails for the rest of us, or .Net without the learning curve or MS-stigma, or Cold Fusion or Zope without the ummm... Cold Fusion or Zope! Any other thoughts on who we might want to target?
How do you feel/what's your reaction when using it?
magic, ahah!, cool, simple, confident, empowered, productive, focused, ordered, automated
What roles does it play or what is it?
publisher, builder, framework, kit, manager, director, tool, system, application, creator
What do you create with it?
websites, applications, blogs, portals, stories, shops, stores, sites, letters, art
To create with it, you...
write, program, code, think, brainstorm, experiment, play, edit, sculpt, amalgamate, combine, leverage ...
Other ways you can create...
quill, brush, pen, pencil, computer, hammer, nails, science, saw, keyboard, paper, ruler, brain, hand, machine, factory
The end result...
slashdotting, profit, productivity, less stress, peace, happiness, energy, focus
Other goofy questions to think about:
If it were a color, it would be?
An actor/actress? (Sorry Paris, you've been banned)
A car? (Honda S-2000...)
An adjective? (pervasive, omnipotent, tactical...)
A company? (Apple--they take stuff that others make complex, and make it uber-simple and !)
I prefer names that are memorable/easy to spell/no "cute" stuff... If we can get a .com URL or a xxxCMS (or something similar) URL with a "dead" .com domain, all the better.
