Would it be possible to use this to sort the order in which 5 side-column chunks are displayed (1-3-2-5-4, for example), and on a per-page basis?
    huh

    Thx!

guess this is a case for TV-Based Chunks http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Create_TV-Based_Chunks

Thanks, Jan - the ordering capability caught my eye, but I guess I didn’t read carefully enough.

As far as I understand, the TV-based chunks are not sortable; this setup only provides the ability to choose if individual chunks appear or don’t, sort of "yes" or "no" but not "how". I need to have them all appear, but in a certain order (according to season or to which competition is next coming). Maybe I am overlooking something?

          hey Wendy smiley

haven’t tried it yet, but you could place 5 instances of the TV-Based Chunk Snippet in your sidebar, with 5 different TVs all grabbing the same category of your chunks ... you should be able to choose which chunk will be displayed at which position - sitewide

maybe there’s another/better solution, but TV-Based Chunk was my first thought

you can use Quill for this

            http://modxcms.com/extras/package/?package=355

            1. install the snippet
            2. create a TV e.g. "feature", "Dropdown List Menu", Input Option Values: @EVAL return $modx->runSnippet(’Quill’, array("parent"=>"11")); with 11 being the id of my parent folder to retrieve documents from
            3. assign it to your template
            4. on your startpage you can call Ditto like this: [[Ditto? &documents=`[*feature*]` &extenders=`summary` ... etc ]]

            5. your TV "feature" will list all available documents to choose from

            this is quite handy smiley

            solves this problem:
what if 1 home is promoted to the home page and I have try to promote another? I’m just tryin to think of all the possibilities to make it as easy as possible 4 the client

*edit: ddTree Snippet could work as well:
            http://modxcms.com/extras/package/90
            http://www.modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=19614

From the way it seems to work Quill seems perfect! for some reason its not displaying the home though ;(.. heres my call

            [!Ditto? &documents=`[*feature*]` &tpl=`featuredProperty` &extenders=`summary` &noResults=`No Featured Home Selected.` !]

the Property Parent page is ID 4, so heres the TV Input Option Values:
            @EVAL return $modx->runSnippet('Quill', array("parent"=>"4"));

I see the properties in the drop down menu but when I choose one and click save nothing happens on the home page.. maybe its something minor im missing but I cant spot it anywhere. thanks for quill! just gotta get it workin

if you set the the id of &documents manually for one property it’s displayed right?

&documents=`[*feature*]` and the name of the TV are the same ( sorry to ask, but it happens to me quite often smiley )
try different cachin options, although i think it doesn’t make a difference

what does Quill return if you place [[Quill? &parent=`4`]] straight in your homepage template?
