Do you use CSS Frameworks? (blueprint/960/YAML/YUIG, etc) What's your take?

Looks good. How did you like BT? Will you use it again or try another framework? I liked the grid part a lot but the typography was a bit much and ended up deleting most of it.

I’m not designer, but getting the layout structure into template(s) was efortless.
I’ll see if I can get the boss to drop by and write a sentence or three about typography part of the site...

I used Blue Print just before xmas for a small gallery website and found it speeded up my CSS process.

Being the first CSS framework I’ve used I was initially quite sceptical however it helped, I would recommend it however I will be looking at alternatives. 960 and BlueTip both look interesting, I’m slightly concerned that BluePrint is becoming bloated. The resets are certainly a big bonus, I just hate spending time tweaking styling for cross browser compatibility and would sooner spend time on more interesting code like jQuery.

I’m currently in the process of building my own ’Design Agency’ site and will not be using a grid, why?, I will have one page with all content presented via jQuery so in such cases light optimized custom code seems logical. In short if you need a grid use a Framework if not then its only additional overhead.

After going through lots of sites both for and against frameworks, etc...I have decided to go with BP. I just found it quite straightforward. I have studied its implementation looking at samples and live examples (such as the redesign of drupal.org by Mark Boulton) but I haven’t actually used it yet. When I do I will post here

I’ve recently been using YUI Grids: reset-fonts-grids.css and have liked the implementation, but sometimes have felt limited. I’d never even heard of 960 till this post, and now it has my attention! I’ll have to give it a whirl...

I worked with blueprint on a few sites. I did feel constrained. Mainly by their typography.

Right now I’ve got my own css toolbox consisting of:
- reset.css
- forms.css
- global.css (basic structure / typography goes in here)
- then I sweep in with ie6.css and ie7.css to fix those.

However on the next project, my designer and I have decided to use the 960.gs as our base. I like the cleanliness of it. Even if I dont use the css, it’ll be easier for my designer and I to have a consistent look and feel.

I’ve been using BluePrint for a while now and its very good, not sure about the typography, locking everything to a baseline can be very restrictive but it has its uses. I like to design to the grid, faster and more flexable if you ask me. I use to do css/html from scratch, but with long gaps between using css I always forget what hacks etc to use and it was like re inventing the wheel each time.

Personally I don’t care about symantic code, once a few templates are setup I hardly ever change them so who needs to know that the header is called header?

960 looks interesting might use it.

Isnt that BlueTrip just a rip off of BluePrint?
