What do you all think of the new Google Chrome Browser? I have been testing/using it and think this may become a big deal; it’s very fast, renders pages lightening quick and looks good too. Doesn’t have the plug in that you can get for Firefox, but it’s defiantly good.

I just read this article and I am not sure this is a fair and impartial review... might sound like one, since there are both strong and weak points listed, but still a bit too much IE8 praise for my taste
I thought he was pretty down on IE8, but hey I haven’t used IE of any sort for years on a regular basis, apart from cross browser testing.
I’m using Chrome as I write this and so far I like it, but the point I was making is that this is the first beta so there are bound to be issues so we shouldn’t be abandoning our favorite browsers of choice just yet.
But the future looks bright.

Just had a quick go on the Modx manager and wow massive improvement my browser of choice managing Modx i think!! Though it was slow because of my connection not the browser!
Plugins do not yet exist for Chrome but from what I’ve read, using Google Gears you’ll be able to extend Chrome just as FireFox has extension right now... that could be awesome !

Actually I think Chrome will remain with the technically enthousiast crowd... a lot of who will try it and just move on. A number of users will use it in addition to their ’default’ browser for ’heavy’ websites like Gmail or the Modx Manager interface.
I suspect not many developers will bother to test for it though. Which would put it in the same spot as Opera... not that a great position to be in I reckon (more broken pages due to badly used css/javascript then you’d wish for).
