Anyone have any good methods of testing mobile content on your desktop?

Opera can do it either via Shift+F12 (normal F12 does full-screen) or View->Small Screen, and I think there’s a web app that "emulates" a Opera Mini installed on a mobile phone. I don’t know if any other browsers can do that, however.

FF Web Developer Toolbar has small screen rendering.

I always look at pages in Lynx as a worst case (in terms of features) test. This is not just related to mobile browsers, but also older browsers, screen readers, search bots etc.

Recently switched to Safari 3 (beta) with Saft and Tidy on MacOS X. And yes: TinyMCE runs now with this shiny little piece of software smiley

Thumbs-up on the web developer extension. That extension has saved me HOURS of development time. I love it.

I use Konqueror as some indication of what might be happening in Safari, but I’m not sure how far the core rendering has diverged.
I am not sure how alike the new Webkit engine is compared to its parents KDE and KHTML. You could might be able to download Webkit and compile it.

Because I’m on a Mac I use Safari a lot for my day-to-day browsing. When debugging and testing websites I use them all, but Firefox with Firebug is invaluable. In my experience, Firefox had become a little clunky over the last year or so and Safari was much faster. However, FF3 is proving to be quite an update.

I use Firefox with various add ons such as Webdeveloper Toolbar, Firebug, Yslow and a host of others for analysis and debugging etc.

However, since upgrading to FF3 the old Firefox memory binge problem has resurfaced. (If you don’t know what that is just google for firefox memory problems.)

The other thing to keep in mind is that 80% of the web population use IE, so whatever your feelings about it, we still have to make sure everything looks and works ok in Explorer.

I’ve also tried Flock, which looks promising.
