Yes, please don’t stop working with the 0.9.5/0.9.6 codebase, I’ll be supporting that one now. Later, once the new codebase is in a late beta stage, I’ll set up another bounty for a new ecommerce system to take advantage of the new core. But for now, I really want to see a good, useful app for the existing MODx, and I’m willing to pony up a few thousand dollars to see it done. More details later, when the Foundation is set up to administer such things in an organized fashion.

I have seen a couple mentions of the "Foundation" by you in a couple of posts. Is this something that is being spearheaded right now? If not, is there some reason for it? FYI, modxfoundation.com is available, and might be worth registering in the name of MODx.

I envision a site that funds projects for MODx by donation. Then some sort of ranking of the most desirable add-ons, with a "donation-o-meter" for the top projects to show how much funding it will take to get them completed. Is that any bit on target? Maybe this should be split into its own topic.

Maybe this should be split into its own thread. If one exists, I couldn’t find it because, unfortunately, when I search for "MODx Foundation" it pulls up a ton of posts with Jason’s signature in it.

There is going to be a foundation, and it will be well funded to ensure MODx is around for a long, long time in as open source. But that’s all I can say and no other threads needed. wink

Indeed. I imagine this is what many Modx users would like to see - an organised and viable way to make agile development of needed functionality a reality.

            Hey all,

Just stopped by to see how the progress is coming on MODxCart? It sounds like an awesome project! I wish i was literate enough in PHP / MySQL to help out, but unfortunately I wouldn’t know half of what you were doing sad I would love to be a tester / bug finder / etc, as I have a nack for finding all of the small bugs that somehow end up..anyways. Thanks again for developing this!

I am going to be moving a large Joomla e-commerce site to a new system (current is just too buggy and non-flexible). It has some tangible products but is mostly downloadable products. I want to make/refine a download snippet to work with ShopX or MODxCart. (This could include the initial file uploads as well).

Question: Is ShopX or MODxCart stable to work with .96? Has anyone been working on it at all lately?

              Thanks.

PS - I posted this also in the ShopX forum.

I have been working on it, but for a number of personal reasons I haven’t gotten it to the point where it’s ready to be released to the public. I also haven’t wanted to say publicly when it would be ready because when I’ve done that in the past and haven’t been able to follow through I’ve felt like a jerk. So basically I decided not to make any more promises and to just release it when it’s done.

That said, I’m developing another SHOPx site now and I need to have the cart features integrated within the next couple weeks, so hopefully that will mark the end of my vow of silence on the matter.

Although I guess officially this post is breaking that vow...

I have said it before, but I would suggest looking at www.foxycart.com - Not a FREE solution, but a great mash-up w/ MODx IMO

I would definitely use Foxycart, but we’re talking about 500MB to 1GB of downloadable items a month. They are audio sermons and video sermons. So each audio is 10MB and each video is pretty large.

I would use Foxycart if the store was wanting to push less downloadable items.

Is there any progress on MODxCart?

                      Ah, makes total sense.

Unfortunately, no. sad It is "On Hold" at the moment. TBD when, if at all, progress will resume...
