MODx is rapidly approaching another release. This one is going to be quite nice and contain much more than a typical .1 release bump; some highlights:

    • Boatloads of bugfixes and security enhancements
    • A new Bootstrap Installer system that makes installing or updating your site to the newest version a single sub-30Kb file upload.
    • Updated default content with exclusive new templates from our newest team member Andreas Viklund.
    • Phase 1 of the manager overhaul; now you can skin it with one css file and some images.
    • Restructured manager menu layout to better organize and improve MODx’s usability.
    • Enhancements to the webuser and manager user login systems.
    • More languages installed by default.

With this next release, MODx is finally starting to feel where we’ve been wanting it to go for a long time. smiley

Before we start our final push to 1.0, we’re going to focus on growing the non-English communities in preparation for our Roadmap to 1.0 (which is quite impressive and will be revealed in detail in the coming days in weeks, btw).

In the interim, you can gauge our progress on the next release by watching the roadmap. Enjoy!

Of that I am aware though I’d like to have a clear differential view of improvements (guess SVN helps in this regard... will public SVN be available on SourceForge anytime in the future ? I don’t mean to commit, patch or whatever but just get the latest build ?)

Well, since you mentioned it, we’re working on a lot of things in that regard as well. At a minimum you’ll see periodic builds and even quite possibly anonymous read access to our SVN repository. With SF recently going down for days at a time, I doubt our primary repository will be there, as that’s just scary. The guys at CVSDude have been really wonderful and provide a great service.

After testing the development version when building the templates, I must say that I’m impressed. I really look forward to spending more time with MODx, it is a lot of potential. I hope everyone will like the new look, so I can stay on the team! Haha... smiley

Nice work andreas! Is there a preview of the new look ? I might have missed that if it’s posted elsewhere.

I am a big fan of your XHTML and CSS. I have learned a lot from disecting your code, so... Thank you!!! laugh

I have also ported (poorly) a template or two of yours to MODx. Please don’t hold that against me! LOL!!!

Ditto here, Andreas! Very happy to see you here. And I also hope you’re not annoyed at my mangling of some of your excellent templates.
