    Hi there.

I have installed Quip and set up a simple blog using the tutorial that is around the net.

I cannot get comments to work though.

If I leave a comment etc it seems as if it has worked, but when I then log into the manager and check Quip the thread is displayed but there are no comments top approve or delete etc.

I have also checked the db and no comments are in there either.

This is in my error log

    [2010-12-13 13:11:59] (ERROR @ /index.php) Error HY000 executing statement:
    INSERT INTO `modx_create_quip_comments` (`thread`, `parent`, `author`, `body`, `createdon`, `approved`, `approvedby`, `name`, `email`, `website`, `ip`, `deleted`, `deletedby`, `resource`, `idprefix`, `existing_params`) VALUES (’threadNameHere’, ’0’, ’0’, ’sfsdf’, ’2010-12-13 13:11:59’, ’1’, ’0’, ’Default Admin User’, ’****’, ’’, ’****’, ’0’, ’0’, ’68’, ’qcom’, ’[]’)

Do you run the last modx revolution (2.0.5) ?
Did you flush permissions after installing Quip ?

The last Quip versioin is only compatible with the last MODx revolution 2.05 due to change in the permission system (hence the error message in your logs).

Try to install the last Revo release or revert back to previous version of Quip.

I give up. Cannot get it to work. I do not understand why it should be so complicated though.

Will look elsewhere for a commenting script

MODx Revolution 2.0.5 has some new facilities provided for user management & permission, which is why the last Quip version is only compatible with MODx Revo >= 2.0.5

Which is also why you have Quip not working on your install.

The second issue is for MODx Revo upgrade and should not be related to Quip whatsoever.
Can you tell us on which page you have this error message ?

Is it a local installation of MODx ?

The fact that you were able to install Quip on a "too old" version of MODx is not really user friendly. It reminds me of Joomla terror...
